Daniel didn’t even have a chance to respond. When he looked up again, Charmaine was already gone.
Pressing his lips into a tight line, he hesitated for a moment before finally wrapping his arms around the shivering Leah and taking her back.
The mountaintop had limited resources, and to ensure Leah could take a hot shower as soon as possible, Daniel paid an exorbitant price to secure an already fully booked eco–suite at the camping hotel from another guest.
His extravagant and thoughtful gesture naturally became the hot topic of conversation among their
classmates.
“That guy took advantage of the situation to inflate the price. Originally, the suite was only 5,800, but Daniel bought it for 58,000!”
“What?! That’s insane! He totally got ripped off!”
“Well, there are only five indoor scenic suites on the whole mountaintop. Mr. Emyr and Mr. Chapman took two, the other two are under maintenance, so there was only one left. Of course, it would cost a fortune!”
“Just for a shower? 58,000… Daniel really spoils Leah!”
“Pfft! That amount of money is nothing to him.”
Meanwhile, Leah was wrapped in a large bath towel, feeling warm and cozy, her cheeks tinged with a rosy flush.
“Come on, don’t tease me. If I hadn’t accidentally fallen into the water, Daniel wouldn’t have had to spend so much…”
Veronica twirled a strand of her hair and smiled. “Come on, Daniel treats you so well. No need to be humble. Unlike some people who think tagging along with Mr. Emyr makes them special. And look at her now–completely ignored, cooking a cup of instant noodles all by herself!”
Celeste, who had been grinning ear to ear while laughing at Leah for falling into the water earlier, immediately froze, her expression darkening as she shot up from her seat.
“Are you seriously shading us? Mr. Emyr wouldn’t even spare you a glance!”
Veronica’s face twisted in anger at being called out. “And what does that have to do with you, Celeste? What, are you Charmaine’s little lapdog now, barking on her behalf?”
Celeste folded her arms, smirking. “So what if I am? At least I don’t act like a pathetic fangirl f about the pot calling the kettle black.”

Veronica turned to Leah. Her eyes sparkled. “Leah, Daniel is seriously the best! He even ordered all this amazing food just for you!”
Touching her still–flat stomach, Leah chuckled sheepishly. “After everything that’s happened, I am pretty exhausted… There’s so much food. Let’s all share.”
“OMG! Leah, you’re the best!”
Cheers erupted as everyone eagerly stepped forward–only to be stopped by the hotel manager.
He then turned toward Charmaine, who was casually eating her noodles, and respectfully bowed. “Miss, this is the lunch Mr. Chapman ordered for you. All ingredients were freshly delivered from the base of the mountain this morning and prepared by a Michelin–star chef. Please enjoy.”
Leah’s smile instantly froze.
Everyone was stunned.
Mr. Chapman?

It was already shocking enough that Mr. Emyr personally brought her up the mountain, but now even Rex was going out of his way to please Charmaine.
Wasn’t she just a maid? What the hell did she do to deserve all this?!
Charmaine blinked and, under the weight of everyone’s wide–eyed stares filled with jealousy and disbelief, calmly accepted the meal. “Alright. Please thank Mr. Chapman for his generosity.”
The hotel manager nodded and left.
Celeste, grinning smugly, lifted her chin and shot the crowd a playful wink before dramatically unveiling each silver dish cover.
“Grilled lobster, chili crab, avocado salmon, porcini mushroom rice, abalone chicken soup, Ichigo strawberries … Oh! Dark chocolate lava cake!”
She deliberately raised her voice. “Wow, preparing a spread like this at the top of a mountain? That’s gotta be at least 80 to 100 grand!”
The onlookers, who were already staring hungrily, gasped at the price.
Charmaine shook her head. “Let’s eat.”
“Mm–hmm! Well then, don’t mind if I do!”
Everyone else could only watch as the two of them leisurely enjoyed a meal that smelled absolutely divine -while they were stuck with instant food. Their eyes practically bore holes into their plates.
Not far away, inside a transparent glass suite, Emyr silently observed the scene.
The golden sunlight bathed the grassy campsite, illuminating Charmaine’s animated face—her bright, expressive features vivid and radiant.
