Feeling uncertain, Kane asked again, “Hasn’t Emyr been in a foul mood lately? Weren’t you all suffering because of it? Why is there afternoon tea today?”
A cheerful female secretary giggled. “He’s been in a much better mood these past few days. He even told Tad to treat everyone to afternoon tea.”
Just as she finished speaking, Tad walked out of the office.
Kane quickly stepped forward and grabbed Tad’s shoulder, looking doubtful. “Tad, did Emyr and Chara finally make up?”
Tad nodded. “Yes, Mr. Kane.”
Kane was baffled. “Did Emyr suddenly have a change of heart? I need to see him myself.”
Without hesitation, he opened the door and walked in. Surprisingly, Emyr didn’t reprimand him for barging in.
At that moment, Kane knew for sure–Emyr was in an exceptionally good mood.
And not just that. His outfit today–his Windsor knot tie and the serpent–shaped blue diamond brooch- practically screamed that he was trying to impress someone.
Kane approached the desk, sizing him up.
Emyr frowned slightly. “What are you staring at?”
Without thinking, Kane blurted out, “Just checking if you’ve got any hickeys on your neck.”
“Get out.”
Kane smirked. “So, you and Chara are together now, huh? Try to control yourselves, will you?”
Emyr shot him a sharp glare, his eyes filled with warning.
Kane immediately realized his mistake. They hadn’t reached that stage yet.
Letting out a sigh of relief, he realized he still had a role to play in that.
Straightening up, he leisurely strolled around the desk, flashing a teasing grin. “So, Emyr, have you thought about what I suggested last time?”
Instead of answering directly, Emyr said, “She’s busy with finals right now. The exams will be over in a few days.”
Kane clapped his hands. “That’s perfect! With the whole winter break ahead, it’s the best time to bri two closer.”

At the mention of their relationship progressing, Emyr’s expression shifted slightly as if something had just crossed his mind.
He said casually, “Her class is going on a camping trip after exams. Family members are allowed, but she didn’t invite me.”

Kane caught on immediately. “Then just ask her. Chara is a girl–of course, she wouldn’t feel comfortable inviting you first. You should take the lead.”
Then, glancing at Emyr, who rarely took the initiative in anything, Kane added, “Ahem, though in your case, being straightforward works better. Just show up. The surprise will leave Chara speechless.”
Emyr hesitated. He had never seen Charmaine react like that before. “Are you sure?”
“Absolutely! Trust me, Emyr. With me guiding you, Chara will be so smitten she won’t want to leave your side.”
Meanwhile, at the mall, Charmaine suddenly sneezed several times in a row,
It’s strange. Is someone talking about me behind my back?
After the week of exams, Alfred had a small cake specially made for Charmaine in the evening. It was his way of celebrating the end of the semester and letting her relax before winter break.
The gesture warmed her heart. Ever since she had arrived here, Alfred and the others had shown her kindness in subtle ways–not grand or, extravagant, but simple, thoughtful acts that left a lasting impact.
Before going to bed, Charmaine crouched beside her suitcase, carefully packing what she needed for the next day’s trip.
Emyr stepped out of the bathroom and saw her rushing around. His eyes landed on her half–packed suitcase, overflowing with items. He frowned. “You’re only going for a day. Do you need to bring so much?”
Charmaine didn’t look up as she replied, “They said the temperature on the mountain fluctuates a lot. We’ll be hiking during the day, setting up tents at night, and watching the sunrise in the morning. Alfred helped me prepare everything–I just have to pack it.”
She tossed another blanket into the suitcase, then paused, struggling to close it. “Why does it feel like it won’t shut?”
Emyr wheeled over, bent down slightly, and picked up a piece of clothing she had tossed in carelessly. With a few quick adjustments, he folded it into a neat bundle, making it take up far less space.
Charmaine’s eyes widened. “Whoa! You can fold clothes like that?”
She didn’t travel much. Even when she did, she barely had anything to bring along. Whether it was at the Reads or the Nelsons, her possessions had always been minimal. She had never dealt with the problem of packing too much before.
