Charmaine furrowed her brows tightly.
This outcome was completely unexpected.
How could even her master be unable to do anything?
As she stepped outside, the Maybach was already parked at the entrance, waiting for her.

Charmaine hesitated momentarily, then spoke through the car window, “Mr. Emyr, I want to stay behind and talk to Master Field for a while.”
Emyr turned his gaze to her, staring at her stubborn face, immediately seeing through her intentions.
“There’s no need to trouble Master Field any further. Perhaps my legs were meant to be this way.”
Charmaine pressed her lips together, saying nothing, simply locking eyes with him in silent defiance.
Emyr sighed. “Master Field is not easy to deal with, and people are around protecting him. You…”
“I know. It’s fine. I’ll wait outside for a while. If he doesn’t want to see me, I’ll return on my own.”
“Suit yourself.”
He didn’t say more and motioned for Tad to leave a car for her.
Charmaine stood in place, watching their convoy disappear into the distance before returning to the house.
Instead of going through the main entrance, she took a long detour and entered through a side gate,
making her way to the garden path connected to the study.
Basil was still seated in the same spot, leisurely sipping his tea.
Charmaine lifted her leg over the waist–high hedge, stepping through as if she owned the place, and plopped herself down in the chair opposite him.
Seeing her arrive, he showed no surprise at all.
Charmaine downed it in one gulp. Basil clicked his tongue. “Slow down, girl. Tea is meant to be savored slowly.”
Charmaine shot him a glance. “Like there’s any bad tea in your collection?”
Basil’s hand, which was pouring tea, paused for a moment. She had a point.
He lifted his chin with a haughty snort.
Charmaine sighed and rubbed her forehead. “What exactly is wrong with his legs?”
“Didn’t he already tell you? I can’t cure him.”
“I mean the specific reason. What part of it is irreversible?” Charmaine’s voice was solemn.

Basil watched her, sighing silently.
He had wanted to comfort his dear disciple, but the next second, Charmaine jumped to her feet, casually bid him farewell, and vaulted over the hedge without looking back.
Master Field was surprised.

The door to the study was slightly ajar, revealing a small gap.
Freya covered her mouth, her eyes widening in shock.
Basil was the shabby older man she had seen with Charmaine at the street food stall that day!
