“What the hell just happened?” Quintus paused, momentarily thrown off. His thoughts drifted as he took in the unexpected intruder. The woman… she’s undeniably stunning. Those legs… d*mn.
It wasn’t just her looks that caught his attention–her agility was something else. Mid–air, she launched two quick kicks his way. Quintus barely had time to raise his arm to block.
She wasn’t nearly as strong as him, but fast and fluid. Using his body as leverage, she flipped gracefully before landing, every move precise and controlled.
It was like watching a dancer in motion.

Now that she was standing still, he finally got a good look at her face.

Before he could say anything else, she struck again–both legs kicking out in a well–trained Lannister Family martial arts technique.
–“D*mn, she’s got some skill.” Quintus sidestepped, blocking as he moved back.
He had raw strength, but Chiara had the advantage in speed and technical precision.
That said, brute force could overpower fancy moves any day. No matter how elegant her attacks were, it was only a matter of time before he shut her down.
However, Quintus wasn’t the type to go all out on a woman. Instead, he let her take the lead, playing along with her offense. What he didn’t expect was that she’d keep him on the defensive longer than he liked.
As the fight dragged them further from the scene, Levi’s driver rushed over to help him up. “Mr. Lestrange, are you alright?”
Gritting his teeth in pain, Levi clutched his broken shoulder and ordered, “Just get me in the car. Now!”
“Yes, Mr. Les-“a soft pop cut through the night air before the driver could finish.
A silenced gunshot.
Levi barely had time to register what happened before his driver dropped,
He inhaled sharply, eyes darting around in horror.
Only then did he see who had pulled the trigger. “You… it’s you?!”
Of all people, he never expected this person to turn against him.
Before he could react, the assassin spoke calmly, “Goodbye.”

“Didn’t see that coming, did you?” the killer smirked, stepping over him. Then, almost casually, he reached down and shut Levi’s eyes.
Hearing the fight still going on between Chiara and Quintus, he quickly dragged the driver’s body away and slipped into the shadows before anyone could notice.
Meanwhile, Chiara’s voice rang out through the night. Why did you kill him?! Mr. Lestrange was on our side–I won’t let you get away with this!”
Quintus scoffed, dodging another one of her kicks. “If factually wanted him dead, you’d be lying next to him right now. Try using your head, little girl!”
Seizing the moment, he reached out, grabbed her ankle, and yanked her off balance. She barely had time to react before he had her in an awkward split position.
If anyone else had seen this, they’d probably struggle to keep their nose from bleeding.
Chiara, one of Zovince’s Four Beauties, caught in a vulnerable pose? Any other man might have lost focus. Howeyer, Quintus wasn’t like other men.
His expression was unreadable, and he loosened his grip. “I don’t fight women unless I have to. You’ve got no business with me, so I’ll give you one chance. Walk away.”
With that, he tossed her aside like a ragdoll.
Chiara landed hard, glaring at him as she caught her breath. She knew she couldn’t win this fight. Taking a quick glance behind her, she scoffed. “This isn’t over.” Then, without another word, she vanished into the night.
Quintus didn’t bother stopping her. As long as she didn’t come back looking for trouble, she wasn’t his problem.
Now, it was time to grab Levi.
Approaching the body, he smirked. “Didn’t try to run, huh? Smart move. If you had, I’d have had to break your legs.

Quintus frowned. “Playing dead? That won’t work on me. Get up.”
Still nothing.
Irritated, he bent down and grabbed Levi’s arm–only to stiffen in shock..
What?! His body is stiff. Frowning, Quintus checked for pulse.
Nothing.
His stomach dropped as he wondered, What the hell…?hat punch wasn’t nearly strong enough to kill him.
“Don’t tell me this guy actually just died from that?” Before he could piece it together, distant screams rang

People had started gathering, and panic was spreading fast.

“Hey! Calm down! I’m a general–this is an official mission!” Quintus called out, but it was no use. The commotion had already taken on a life of its own.
Quintus thought, Great. Just great.
Meanwhile, Mackenzie returned just as Emmanuel finished his treatments.
Thanks to his relentless efforts, all the critically poisoned guests had survived.
“Emmanuel, Claudette–you’ve both worked hard,” she remarked, offering a grateful smile.
Keeping up the act that she hadn’t regained her memories, Claudette quickly stepped back and waved a hand. “I barely did anything. Emmanuel did all the work.”
Unfazed, Emmanuel turned to Mackenzie. “How did the investigation go?”
Mackenzie quickly filled him in on what she and Veronica had discovered. “It’s definitely tied to Chiara. Maybe she’s trying to avenge Maxwell, or maybe she’s angling for something bigger.”
Emmanuel nodded, his expression grim. “Makes sense. Mr. Lestrange is still the key player. He was the one who sent the wooden carvings, and they only became lethal when combined with the wine.”
Mackenzie exhaled, tension still gripping her. “The enemy is way more prepared than we expected. We would’ve lost people tonight if it weren’t for you.”
She wasn’t the only one who felt uneasy. The weight of what had nearly happened was settling in for everyone.
Even a few casualties would have been devastating personally and politically. Mackenzie’s entire election campaign could have been destroyed.
“Teddy,” Emmanuel muttered, clenching his fists. He thought, Mr. Lestrange and Gautier might have executed the plan, but Teddy was the one pulling the strings.
“Now we just have to wait for Quintus to bring Mr. Lestrange in,” Mackenzie spoke firmly. Though she wasn’t the type to hold grudges, she wasn’t about to let her enemies walk all over thera
Just then, Emmanuel’s phone rang.
It was Francis.
The moment he answered, his expression darkened. His jaw clenched, frustration flickering in his eyes.
“Understood,” he muttered before hanging up.
Mackenzie immediately caught on. “Something went wrong, didn’t it?”
The room went silent. Everyone knew that whenever Quintus was involved, things rarely went as planned.
