Chapter 594
The car carrying Claire was driving slowly on the road.
She was sitting in the back seat alone. Arthur’s assistant, Mateo, was sitting in the front passenger seat, and the driver was driving, expressionless.

About 30 minutes had passed since they left Chivers Residence, and it was unclear what the destination was. It seemed that the car would not stop at once.
Claire looked out the window. Outside the car, apart from the flat, wide, and endless road, there were uninterrupted warm yellow streetlights.
Some occasional cars whizzed by.
Thinking for a while, Claire turned to Mateo, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, and asked, “Excuse me, sir. Where are we going? How long will it take to get there? It feels like this road never ends.”

Mateo spoke politely.
“About 10 minutes? Okay then. I thought… Okay, thank you.”
Mateo nodded to Claire. “You’re welcome, Ms. Garcia. By the way, I’m Mateo Quinn.”
Mateo’s words made Claire feel like he was easy to get along with, not stiff and pretentious like those officials. She felt a little relaxed. “Okay, Mr. Quinn. It seems that you’re about my age.”

The conversation made the journey seem shorter, and they arrived in no time.
“Claire, here we are. Please step out of the car. Mr. Jarrett is waiting inside. I’ll take you in.” Mateo turned to Claire in the back seat as the car stopped.
Claire responded and got out of the car.
Stepping out of the car, she realized that this was a private residence in the middle of nowhere.
Many robust men in identical black uniforms stood at the gate, carrying weapons of the same specifications.
It was enough to frighten anyone who was timid.

was fine. She had lived in war–torn Astamia in her youth, so she was cool by the scene before her. She stayed calm

“Yes, Claire. This way, please. I’ll lead the way.” As he spoke, he gestured with his hand and walked ahead of Claire.

The residence was huge. Halfway there, Mateo said, “This is Mr. Jarrett’s private residence. Usually, no one else comes here except him.
“I’ve been here only a handful of times. And that goes for Mr. Jarrett’s family as well.”
Claire followed him, watching the mountains, the water, the plants, and the trees of the residence as they walked.
“So this is the residence of wealthy people? Indeed. When one succeeds like him, power is everything. Money is nothing. This residence, I reckon, is second to none in Clusia, no, in the whole world,” said Claire.
Mateo agrees with her. “As a Student of Mr. Dorian Finch, Mr. Jarrett naturally resembles him. I heard that Mr. Dorian Finch designed this courtyard for Mr. Jarrett. Many of the mountains, rivers, flowers, and plants are similar to those in Mr. Dorian Finch’s courtyard in Larkston. Mateo nodded and walked to the gate of a three–story Western–style building.

Mateo gently pushed it open. “Claire, here we are. Mr. Jarrett is in there. I’ll leave you alone. I’ll see you when you’re done. Goodbye.”
Then he ran off very quickly and disappeared at the end of the garden.
Now the only people standing at the gate of the building were Claire and the silent guards in black clothes.
