At the sound of Crow’s exclamation, Cherise’s hand, which had been about to continue with the acupuncture, came to a complete halt.
She turned her head slowly and saw that Claire, lying in the bed, had indeed opened her eyes wide. Unlike the weak and exhausted look she had in Astamia, her eyes now were bright and focused, without a hint of fatigue.
“Am I in Clusia?” Claire said as soon as she opened her eyes and saw the ceiling.
Cherise stood there, stunned.
Crow moved closer first, speaking softly so as not to startle her, “Yes, you’re in Clusia. My boss is here. She’s probably just too happy and got frozen. Ms. Garcia, you’re finally awake.”
The first person Claire saw upon opening her eyes was Crow, and she smiled brightly, “You must be Morris, right?
“Why do you look different from the photo Hank showed me? Did you dye your hair this color? The photo must have been retouched, right?”
The last time she had opened her eyes in Astamia, she had only seen Cherise and had no idea what Morris really looked like.
Crow responded with an “Uh,” then quickly clarified, “Oops, that’s not me. You’ve got the wrong person. My name is Crow, and I’m a close friend of your daughter Cherise.
“Morris doesn’t look like me at all–he’s much more handsome. He’s very busy today and couldn’t make it to see you.
“It’s just a misunderstanding. Boss, come on, snap out of it and talk to your mom. I’ll just check the vital signs again.”
At Crow’s urging, Cherise slowly turned around and looked at the person lying in the bed, who was now wide awake and looking back at her. She smiled as well. “Congratulations on your new lease on life.”
“Thank you,” said Claire.
The mother and daughter shared a joyful smile. Both were bright and graceful women, though Cherise resembled Amelia more, while Claire had a stronger resemblance to the late Rayburn.
The news quickly spread to those who knew them. Many people breathed a sigh of relief and congratulated Cherise and Hank, including Dennis and Bella, who had returned to Saphira.
Their affection for Claire was self–evident; they had watched Claire grow up before she was married. Hearing that Claire was alive after all these years made them happier than anyone else, and they considered flying from Yasvissa to Betrico.
Of course, the news also reached Morris, Carson, and Arthur.
Lucas and Mary, along with Jean, learned about the existence of Hank’s mother and wanted to visit but were hesitant, fearing it might cause a stir and inconvenience.
Cherise and Arthur had also advised them to avoid making a big fuss for now, so they decided to wait and see.
Morris, however, came to the hospital that very night. He had rushed over as soon as he heard the news, even though he hadn’t finished his work.
At the entrance of Betrico Hospital, he got out of his car, preparing to take the elevator to the ward to check on the situation.
Compared to the calmness he had shown in Astamia and after the surgery, he seemed somewhat reserved this time, knowing that Claire was fully awake.

“Mr. Chivers, why do you look a bit nervous? Your back is even hunched. Straighten up!” Leo looked at Morris with a hint of curiosity and asked.
Morris glanced at him sideways and said, “Is it that obvious?”
Leo didn’t hold back at all and nodded, “Yeah, it’s pretty obvious! What’s going on?”
Morris didn’t hide anything from Leo, “I’m about to meet my wife’s mother. I don’t know what she’s like–whether she’s easy to get along with or if she’s picky. I’m a bit worried!
“This is important; it affects our future marital harmony.”
Leo almost burst into laughter, finding it hard to believe, “Come on, Mr. Chivers. Didn’t you know you’ve been voted as the number one type of son–in–law that mothers–in–law love the most?
“Be confident. If I had a son–in–law like you, I’d be over the moon. I’d bring you along to all the gatherings.”
“Guess that’s true,” After Leo’s words, Morris said, clearly gaining more confidence as he slowly walked towards the ward door.
Inside the ward, Hank had already arrived.
“Mom, you’re finally awake. This is great! My mom is finally a normal person who doesn’t just lie in bed all the time. I finally have a normal mom.”
Claire was now in a semi–sitting position. Hearing Hank’s words, she said, “When have I ever been abnormal? I’ve just loved sleeping these years.
“When I’m awake, I’m very reasonable and cultured. Where’s the abnormality? Young man, you need to be more tactful in your words; otherwise, how will you ever have a girlfriend?”
Cherise, sitting on the sofa nearby, watched Claire and Hank chatting and teasing each other, and couldn’t help but smile. It was clear that Claire’s personality was very similar to Amelia’s–both were cheerful, optimistic, and loved to joke around. Claire was even more carefree than her grandmother. It was a mystery how she had ended up with Cherise’s father, Jacob, but that was all in the past and didn’t need to be brought up again.
The door was knocked on. Morris had arrived.
Sure enough, when Leo opened the door, Morris was right behind him. Cherise looked over, and from this angle, she got a good look at Morris standing behind Leo. The first thing she noticed was the rare tension in his demeanor.
“Mom, this is Morris. He’s here!” Hank saw them and informed Claire.
