The news of Claire’s successful surgery quickly reached Arthur’s ears, and like Cherise and the others, he visibly relaxed. At this moment, he had just finished an important international meeting, attended by many of Clusia’s top figures, including
Tristan.
As the meeting concluded, Tristan called out softly from behind, “Arthur, wait a moment!”
Arthur, hearing his name, stopped and gave Mateo a glance before turning around calmly, “Ah, Tristan. What’s the matter? Is today’s work over?”
Tristan took a few steps forward and approached Arthur, “I wanted to discuss some work matters. Since we have a bit of time now, I thought I’d talk to you about it.
“How about we go to the café at the back, have a couple of coffees, and chat before we leave?”
Arthur, after hearing this, met Tristan’s gaze seriously and didn’t refuse, “Sure. Let’s go.”
A moment later, the two sat face–to–face in a quaint café within the conference hall.
After taking a sip of his coffee, Arthur asked, “So, what did you want to talk about?”
Tristan let out a laugh, followed by a sigh, “The elections are coming up in a few days, and I was wondering if you have any thoughts.
“Since we both came into office at the same time, I thought I’d ask you directly. Are you planning to run for re–election or not? I need to know for my own reference.”
Arthur laughed heartily at Tristan’s words. “I knew you’d ask.
“What thoughts could I possibly have? If the country and the people need me, I’ll stay. If not, I’ll step aside. It’s as simple as that.”
In Clusia, besides notable political achievements, public and subordinate support were also significant factors, so Arthur’s statement wasn’t out of place.
Hearing this, Tristan seemed to agree, nodding his head, “You’re right. That’s the way it should be.”
Then, as if remembering something else, he sat up straighter and lowered his voice, “By the way, I heard some of my subordinates talking about a new member at the Jarrett residence. They mentioned something about you having a son.
“Is this just idle gossip? I’ve never heard you mention it before.
“If it’s just rumors, you need to put a stop to them. We don’t want this to blow up and become a bigger issue.
“After all, in our positions, everything we say and do is under scrutiny.”
Tristan spoke with a hint of nervousness, and after finishing, he looked at Arthur intently.
Unlike Tristan, Arthur remained calm and composed, leaning back on the sofa as he spoke leisurely, “Everyone is actually right this time. The new member is indeed from our Jarrett family, and he is my son, Arthur.”
After hearing this, Tristan was taken aback, not expecting Arthur to admit it so readily without any attempt to conceal it. “Wait, is this really true? Shouldn’t we be more cautious about something that just popped up like this?”
Arthur picked up his coffee cup again, took a sip, and spoke with an air of nonchalance, “Truth can’t be faked, and lies can’t be made true.

Tristan asked him, “Your schedule doesn’t seem very busy today. Why do you need to meet the messenger now?”
Arthur had already stood up. “Tristan, you seem quite familiar with my schedule. It was decided last night.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way. The messenger has come all the way from Fresburg to discuss cooperation between Fresburg and Clusia; we can’t keep him waiting.”
With that, he gave Tristan a faint smile and followed Mateo out.
As soon as Arthur left, Tristan’s friendly expression from their coffee chat vanished. He beckoned his assistant over.
“Have you found anything at Betrico Hospital?” Arthur asked.
The assistant lowered his head. “No, it seems someone is deliberately blocking information. However, we did find out that Morris, his wife, and Arthur’s newly acknowledged son were at Betrico Hospital early this morning.”
“Oh?” Tristan let out a puzzled sound, then after a few seconds, he said, “Find out what’s going on today. Time is running out, and I can’t afford to wait any longer.”
“Yes, sir!” The assistant nodded in response to the order.

Inside the Walton residence, a sharp sound of shattering glass and a cry of despair shattered the morning tranquility.
