“Mr. Emyr, this chicken soup took the chef over an hour to prepare. The aroma is incredible,” Charmaine said eagerly.
Without sparing it a glance, Emyr remained expressionless. “Are you planning on mopping the floor?” he asked.
Charmaine quickly pulled the bowl back, as though protecting something fragile, worried that the man might swipe it off the table with a single motion, forcing her to clean up the mess.
She sighed deeply. “Mr. Emyr, you haven’t eaten a thing tonight. Aren’t you hungry? Or is there something else you’d like? I can make it for you.”
Emyr remained cold and aloof. “I’m not hungry.”
Charmaine almost rolled her eyes.
Why is he acting like a teenager, trying to look tough and moody?
She scratched her chin, thinking for a second, then suddenly blurted out, “Could it be that I bit you too hard last night, and your neck still hurts, so you’re not feeling like eating?”
Emyr paused.
Tad nearly tripped.
What on earth is Ms. Nelson talking about? Does she have a death wish?
Emyr shot a cold glare at her, and Charmaine quickly waved her hands, laughing nervously. “Haha, I was just joking!”
Then, as if a sudden light bulb went off, she exclaimed, “I got it! I know what will make you hungry.”
Without hesitation, she grabbed the handles of his wheelchair and began moving him toward the door.
Tad froze, unable to believe his eyes. He hadn’t expected Charmaine to actually take Emyr out.
“Ms. Nelson, where are you taking Mr. Emyr?” he asked.
“To get some good food,” she responded casually.
“But it’s almost 10:00 PM…”
Normally, Emyr was meticulous about his routine, never deviating from it.
Charmaine, already a bit out of breath, had already pushed him into the elevator. She waved dismissively at- Tad. “How can he sleep on an empty stomach? I’ll make sure he gets something to eat and send him back. full. You can clock out now.”
Tad was about to protest but, seeing that Emyr didn’t seem angry enough to stop her, he sighed and gave
- up.
Maybe Mr. Emyr actually prefers being spoiled by Ms. Nelson.

Emyr chuckled as he watched her struggle with the dashboard buttons. “So, you’re kidnapping me, but you don’t even know how to drive?”
“Um… I haven’t driven in a while,” Charmaine admitted, glancing at him. Then it dawned on her. “Hey, put on your seatbelt.”
Emyr looked at her with disdain, his gaze making it clear he didn’t think she deserved his attention, like a boss brushing off an underling.
He has so much confidence in my driving skills, huh?
Charmaine clenched her fist, but as she looked at the clear bite mark on his neck, memories of the previous night came rushing back. Despite everything, she hadn’t been kicked out.
She sighed and pouted, then climbed over the seat, reaching over to fasten his seatbelt for him.
Her warmth enveloped him, and for a moment, Emyr froze, his mind flashing back to what had happened the night before.
His body stiffened, almost as if bracing for something.
There was a soft click as Charmaine returned to the front seat. Realizing his own reaction, Emyr’s face flushed with annoyance. D*mn it.
Charmaine didn’t notice his mood shift. As she started the car, she cheerfully said, “Mr. Emyr, hold on tight. I’m taking you to some delicious food.”
With that, the car roared to life, speeding down the road.
Charmaine drove straight to Eragos‘ old food street. Despite the late hour; the street was still buzzing with energy, filled with bright lights and lively crowds.
She parked, then quickly jumped out, walking around to Emyr’s side. Pulling a mask from her pocket, she handed it to him. “This should help you blend in a bit more,” she said, glancing at his flawless face. If he showed up at this small market, he’d attract way too much attention.
Emyr furrowed his brow, clearly annoyed. “Charmaine, you’re getting bolder by the minute.”
Charmaine grinned, unfazed. “Hehe, well, I have you to thank for the courage.”
Emyr huffed, the meaning behind his expression unclear.
Charmaine expertly maneuvered him through the crowd, making sure no one bumped into him. After weaving through a few turns, she led him into a narrow alley.
At the end of the alley, there was a cozy little shop that had been converted from a house.
Charmaine skillfully wheeled him into a quiet corner and called out loudly, “I’d love one serving of borscht!”

“Charmaine?” The owner, who had been in the kitchen, came out holding a menu. When she saw Charmaine’s bright smile, surprise and delight flashed across her face. “Charmaine, it’s been so long! Where have you been?”
