Chapter 70 Coffee and Cakes
Celeste was dumbfounded.
I’m not made of money. There’s not a chance that I will offer a cake from Swan Delights for everyone!
Charmaine glanced at Leah, who had turned pale. With an almost imperceptible smirk, Charmaine addressed the class representative, “Could you please help distribute the cakes to everyone?”
The class representative nodded hesitantly. “Uh… sure. Thanks, Charmaine.”
“You’re welcome.”
Charmaine cut herself a small slice and returned to her seat, savoring it slowly.

The others snapped out of their stupor, and when faced with the choice of the extravagant cakes or the cheap coffee, they quietly opted for the former.
Daniel quickly regained his composure. “Everyone, feel free to have some coffee as well.”
“Sure! Thanks, Daniel!”
Meanwhile, Celeste tugged on Veronica, preventing her from reaching for the cake. “We’re not eating it. Who even cares about it?”
Veronica glanced longingly at the exquisite cake but didn’t dare contradict Celeste.
Though they had grown up together, she was well aware of Celeste’s temper.
Back at their seats, Celeste noticed Charmaine examining the delivery invoice and its listed phone number.
Her voice turned sarcastic. “Who’s the fool who spent so much on cakes for her? What a waste of money!”
Leah clenched her fists tightly as her face burned with humiliation. The sting of public embarrassment was unbearable, driving her close to madness.
Her eyes turned red and she muttered under her breath, “Could it be the owner of that Maybach from before?”
“Maybach?” Celeste’s eyes lit up as though connecting the dots.
She suddenly raised her voice. “Oh, wow! Someone’s hiding their true colors, huh? Blowing hundreds of thousands on cakes–Charmaine, which sugar daddy did you hook up with this time? It must be some old, filthy rich guy!”
Charmaine looked up from the receipt just as Daniel approached with a coffee in hand. Without a moment’s hesitation, she took the coffee–and poured it all over Celeste.
Celeste shrieked as the sticky, sweet liquid soaked her clothes. She jumped up in anger. “Charmaine, are you crazy?”
“School Rule No. 38: Be honest, respectful, and polite. Any act of fabricating and spreading falsehoods that harm the reputation or dignity of others will result in expulsion if severe enough.”
Charmaine’s sharp gaze turned to her. “I don’t mind escalating this to the principal and seeing who ends up

Everyone knew the principal was notoriously strict and impartial. Celeste’s chest heaved as she stared daggers at Charmaine. But the ferocity in Charmaine’s eyes made her falter.
In the end, she said nothing further.
Daniel, observing the tense atmosphere, shifted his focus to Charmaine. “Next Sunday is my grandmother’s birthday celebration. I’m inviting everyone in class to attend. Charmaine … I hope you can come too.”
After a pause, his voice softened. “She’s been wanting to meet you.”
Charmaine stood up with her phone in hand. “Thanks for the invitation, but I’m busy that day.”
With that, she left for the restroom. The sticky coffee had gotten on her hands, and she needed to wash it off.
The restroom was nearly empty since it was class time. She turned off the faucet and decided to dial the number on the receipt.
As soon as the call connected, Charmaine didn’t hold back. She let loose with a fiery tirade. “Who the hell spends hundreds of thousands on three cakes? Are you insane? Does not spending money make you physically uncomfortable?”
The other end of the line remained eerily silent for several seconds.
Charmaine glanced at her phone to confirm that the call was still connected. Her anger reignited. “Say something! You’ve got the guts to blow money like that, but no guts to talk?”
Finally, a voice responded. It was cold, distant, and carried a chilling undertone, as though an icy wind from Siberia had blown through the phone. “So what?”
After a moment of silence, Charmaine instantly ended the call while shivering all over.
Wait a second. Rex ordered the cakes… but why on earth was Satan the one answering the phone?
Unless …
Her heart sank as she swallowed nervously. Gritting her teeth, she dialed the number again.
When the call connected, she immediately switched to a sugary and coquettish tone. “Mr. Emyr! Hahaha! Were those cakes … um, ordered by you?”
“It wasn’t me.”
Charmaine was about to sigh in relief when Emyr added, “It was Alfred.”
“Oh! Haha! Alfred, huh? Wow, what a thoughtful gesture … but, um, why cakes all of a sudden?”
