My face turned unpleasant as I stared at him without saying a word.
Lukas felt uncomfortable under my gaze, and he chuckled sarcastically, “As you wish.”
After speaking, he stood up and walked towards the exit.
I knew that Lukas is definitely not happy. After all, he had gone to great lengths to uncover the truth and wanted to stand up for me,
but I refused.
I didn’t want Lukas to personally take action and break someone’s hand, as if it were as casual as drinking water or eating. It
terrified me.

Gwendolyn properly.”
I glanced at him and replied calmly, “It has nothing to do with you.”
After saying that, I got up and walked outside.
At the entrance of the private room, I heard James raising his voice, “Regardless, thank you for believing me in front of Lukas.”
My tone remained cold, “I’m just discussing the matter at hand.”
As soon as I finished speaking, I saw Martins return.
He looked at me and spoke calmly, “Miss Lopez, let me take Gwendolyn to the police station.”
I nodded and left.
Although I knew that my attitude towards this matter would upset Lukas, I had no choice but to swallow my pride and ask Lukas for help with the matter of Victoria threatening me. I was desperate to get the letter from my father.
Back at the company, I tried to call Lukas, but I couldn’t get through to him.

I waited until it was past eight o’clock, but Lukas still hadn’t returned. I had to go upstairs to take a shower and then came back downstairs to continue waiting.

At the same time, at the old bar, in the supreme private room.
When Elias entered, he saw several empty bottles of various alcohol in front of Lukas.
Elias raised an eyebrow and teased, “What’s going on? You suddenly started drinking so heavily.”
Lukas glanced at him and ignored the comment.
Elias sat down beside him, and his eyes flickered, “You suddenly act out of character like this. Let me guess, did you have a fight with Skylar?”
Lukas’s expression changed slightly, “What does my drinking have to do with her?”
Elias nonchalantly opened a bottle of wine and poured himself a glass, “Apart from her, I can’t think of anyone else who can provoke you.”
Lukas didn’t expect that Elias’s guess would be accurate. His face turned even uglier as he retorted, “You’re thinking too much. I’m just drinking.”
Elias leaned closer, “Really? I remember that after you quit smoking, you rarely drank like this. Don’t play games with me. It’s not. embarrassing at all to fall for a goddess like Skylar.
Lukas’s expression instantly became even more ugly. He moved to the side with disdain. “Shut up, Elias. Who told you that I like her?”
Elias blinked. “But if it’s not because of her, then is it work–related?”
Lukas’s expression turned grim, “I called you here to drink, not to listen to your nonsense.”
Elias innocently touched his nose, “All right, let’s drink then.”
Lukas had a drink and thought about everything he had done to uncover James’s accounts, and how Skylar chose to believe James. He had gone through so much trouble to find out what Gwendolyn had done.
In the end, Skylar innocently chose to let Gwendolyn go.
To Lukas, the mild punishment Skylar gave Gwendolyn was equivalent to letting her off the hook.
He had spent so much effort investigating, and in the end, the result was changed just like that. Lukas had never felt so frustrated before.
He decided that if he ever rushed to help Skylar again, he must be out of his mind.
Lukas drank while making a mental promise.

As soon as Ir approached, I smelled the alcohol that reeked from Lukas. I raised an eyebrow, “Mr. Strakovski, have you been
drinking?”
Lukas’s tone turned harsh as soon as he saw me, “Does it have anything to do with you?”
I pursed my lips, “It’s none of my business.”
Lukas’s words got stuck in his throat, yet he wanted to curse.
He gave me a cold glance, then bypassed me and headed upstairs.
I thought about the matter of Victoria threatening me and mustered up the courage to speak, “Mr. Strakovski, can you do me a favor?”
Hearing those words come out of my mouth, Lukas lost it. His temper flared up and turned to look at me.
He was venting his emotions under the influence of alcohol and didn’t care about what he was saying, “You’re asking me to do you a favor? Why should I help you, Skylar? Who do you think you are? What’s your relationship with me? Do I have to help you just because you asked for it?”
“You probably haven’t figured out our relationship. Even if we’re married, does that mean I’ve slept with you? When an escort girl comes on stage, she at least gives something in return. What are you offering? You expect me to help you without any compensation? You really think too highly of yourself.”
