Skylar was experiencing symptoms of fever, panting heavily, and her consciousness was hazy.
“It didn’t seem like a regular fever; rather…
It suddenly occurred to Lukas that Skylar was inexperienced in such matters and, being only 20 years old, she probably didn’t even understand what was happening to her. That’s why she kept saying she felt unwell.
But with so many people at the banquet, who would dare to openly harm Skylar? Besides, she wasn’t a fool; would she simply drink anything given to her?
Various thoughts flashed through Lukas’s mind, but before he could act, Skylar was already clinging to him.
Lukas knew that if Skylar found out tomorrow that she had made a fool of herself in public, she would definitely be devastated and punish herself.
Seizing the opportunity while others weren’t paying attention, he put his arms around her, and with a swift move, knocked her
unconscious.

Hearing Anthony address her so intimately, Lukas felt uncomfortable.
He looked at Anthony and calmly said, “She has low blood sugar and fainted. I’m taking her to the hospital. Why is Director Rivers also coming along?”
Anthony was taken aback. Today was his mother’s birthday banquet, and if he left midway, it would surely cause gossip.
But before he could say anything, Ava approached them. “Director Rivers, I’ll stay with Skylar. You can go back.”
Anthony sighed in relief. “All right then, please take care of her in the hospital. Let me know when she wakes up.”
Ava nodded.
Lukas carried Skylar out and placed her in the passenger seat.
As he was about to get into the driver’s seat, Ava stopped him.
With a cold expression, Ava asked, “Mr Strakovski, what happened to Skylar?”
Lukas didn’t want others to know that Skylar had consumed something she shouldn’t have.

Knowing that Ava was probably aware of their relationship, he decided to be straightforward. “Why are you afraid that I’ll hurt her? If I really wanted to do something to her, do you think she would be unharmed until now?”
Ava was taken aback and instinctively stepped back.
After all, Lukas’s words made sense.
She watched as Lukas drove away with Skylar and then turned to leave.
However, Elias followed her. “Ava, you’re a young girl, and it’s not safe to go home at night. Let me walk you home.”
Ava ignored him.
Elias persisted, “Ava, can you at least give me a reaction? By the way, you added me as a WhatsApp friend before, right? Maybe you
accidentally deleted it. Let’s add each other again.”
Ava turned to look at him, her expression icy. “I did it on purpose. Can’t you tell?”
“Ahh,” Elias was about to say something, but he saw Ava get into a nearby car, start the engine, accelerate, and drive away quickly.
Elias looked at the sky with a sad face, muttering, “Man, cold–hearted women are hard to pursue.”
It’s just so challenging.
As Lukas’s car drove away, Skylar, although unconscious, was in distress, whimpering continuously, and her body seemed to be involuntarily twisting.
Lukas had already called the family doctor at Hill Crest One Residence. However, halfway to their destination, Skylar woke up.
Skylar POV
I was in discomfort, trying to tear my dress.
Lukas wasn’t a sage or a saint; he was just a regular man. Having a woman, he wasn’t averse to next to him, he couldn’t help but feel aroused and unconsciously let out a seductive voice, making his body start to feel hot.
I sounded like I was on the verge of tears. “Where… where are we?”
Lukas struggled to control himself, his voice slightly hoarse. “We’re on our way back to Hill Crest One Residence. The doctor is waiting for us there.”
Although I hadn’t experienced certain things, I wasn’t naive either.
My body was now completely out of my control, and I had a general idea of what was happening to me.
I whimpered in discomfort, sounding like I was crying, but also like I was trying to seduce.
Lukas’s forehead vein pulsated slightly. If one didn’t look at his expression or the veins popping on his hand, they would think he wasn’t affected at all.
I cried softly, “Lu…Lukas.”
Lukas’s voice was low as if whispering “Mm, I’m here.”
I suddenly grabbed Lukas’s arm, my voice pleading, “I feel so uncomfortable.”
