Normally, in a school where they had so many students coming from rich, prominent families, the teachers would rarely treat their students like this. Yet, why were they treating Summer like that?
It was because they knew that Summer was meek and docile. She would not tell her parents about what happened at school.
These teachers were not afraid of the students. Instead, they were wary of the rich, prominent families that these students belonged to.
“Did I say something wrong, Mr. Sutton?” Summer looked Ivan straight in the eye.
“Are you saying that all of Annie’s misdeeds, such as dumping trash all over my desk, tearing my textbooks and homework, and forcing me to drink dirty water, are just playful banter? On the other hand, I’m bullying her by making her clean up the mess she made on my desk?”
“You!” Ivan could not come up with a rebuttal to Summer’s question.
“Do the rest of you share the same opinion as Mr. Sutton, too?” Summer’s gaze drifted across the
other teachers inside the office.

moment. Even though she appeared completely calm, those teachers who had criticized her earlier for being impolite to them felt intimidated. They fell silent.
Ivan’s face grew ashen.
“Summer Hartford, you were a good student before. How did you end up becoming a person like this?” Ivan seemed as though he was totally disappointed with her.
Summer dropped her gaze and chuckled. The atmosphere in the room turned icy in an instant. She had let out a soft chuckle, yet the sound of it sent chills through the listeners‘ bodies.
In her previous life, Summer liked hearing these remarks from others.
“Summer, you’re a good student.”
“Summer, you’re my favorite family member.”
“Summer, you’re the best wife in the world.”
To earn these praises, Summer endured and suppressed her own feelings time and time again. Yet, what did she gain in the end?

the other students in our school, I’ve never been disrespectful to the teachers just because I come from an affluent background. I’m obedient, and I’ve treated our teachers with respect.”
The corners of Summer’s mouth lifted in a mocking smile. “However, our teachers don’t seem to appreciate good students like that.”
There was a deafening silence in the office.
“Isn’t that a bit unfair? Don’t you agree?” Summer lifted her chin slightly and said light–heartedly.
“Summer, I think you’ve misunderstood us.” A female teacher had a hard time coming up with a response. “We treat all students equally.”
“Do you honestly believe what you’re saying?” Summer cast her a glance.
“Well, that’s all I have to say. If there’s nothing else you want to point out, I’ll head back to the
classroom and resume my lessons. If you’re still unsatisfied with what I did, I suggest that you contact my parents for a meeting.”
Then, Summer gave a slight nod. Without waiting for Ivan’s response, she turned around and strode out of the room.
The teachers in the office exchanged glances with rounded eyes.

“Did she eat something wrong today?”
“That’s not it. It’s more like she was spitting fire from her mouth!”
“The audacity!” Ivan slammed his palm against the table forcefully. “She’s acting like this just because her family has a lot of money! Someone like her will only become a burden for our society when she joins the workforce later on!”
“Calm down, Mr. Sutton. Money isn’t the only thing her family has. Let’s just forget about this. We can just stay away from her instead of picking a fight with someone above us.”
The female teacher gave a prickly response after receiving that scornful remark from Summer earlier. She remarked, “After all, there’s nothing we can do about it.”
“That’s too soon to say,” the male teacher who pointed at Summer in the beginning said unhurriedly. “The students will be having their exams soon. Teachers have the right to punish those who always get in trouble with other students and perform poorly in their exams.”
