Ethan panicked.“Clara, are you alright?” .

Clara vomited until she was exhausted. Why would Ethan cheat on her?
Was he so sure that she would never know?
Ethan asked, “Feeling better? Shall I take you to the hospital?”
“No, maybe I just ate something bad.”
“Then you may come to my office tomorrow. We’ll eat together.”
Clara smirked. To watch you and Lily have sex in the office?
She decided on a prank. “Okay, I’ll go to work with you tomorrow and
go
home with you. I’ll be with you all day.”
Ethan looked uneasy. “I’m busy. I can’t always be with you.”
“I’ll wait in your office.”
“…Okay.”
At home, Ethan offered to run Clara’s bath, but closed the bathroom door
suspiciously. Clara went downstairs, back to the car. The screen showed new
messages.

Clara went to bed. Ethan went out of the bathroom. “Bath’s ready.”
“I’m good. I wanna rest.
“Can I open your gift now?”
“No. Not until a week later.”
“Why? I can’t wait to see it.”

Because I’ll be gone next week.
“It’ll be more meaningful then.”
Ethan kissed her forehead.“Okay. I’ll wait.”

Clara. But it rang again. He silenced it angrily. When it rang the third time, he got

Clara hummed, turning her back to him. He left the bedroom and went to
the front door, receiving a package from a delivery driver. However, when he
came back, he was empty–handed.
Clara asked him if there was something urgent at work.
Ethan said, “Nothing, don’t worry. I’ll go and make you breakfast.”
He made a lavish breakfast, perhaps to make up for his absence from their
anniversary. There were milk, eggs, bread, jam, and her favorite oatmeal.
“I’ll hire a cook in case you eat something bad again.”
“No need.”
“Come on, honey. I’ll be worried about you.”
“Ethan, can I ask something?”
“Sure.”
Clara put
down her fork.“What do you think of the seven–year itch?”
Ethan looked serious. “That’s an excuse for cheaters. I only love you.”
