As Bruce, Sienna, and the others glided across the slopes, the sight of Jeremiah pulling a snow tube with Yvette in it made them instinctively speed up. The saccharine sweetness radiating from the couple was almost blinding.
When Savannah reached the high–difficulty ski track, her gaze locked onto Jeremiah tugging the snow tube with Yvette perched on it.
Jealousy burned within Savannah as she sneered internally, ‘Why is she even here if she can’t ski? She’s embarrassing!‘
She had the urge to shove Yvette aside and claim the spot beside Jeremiah. Her darkened eyes traced their retreating figures, frustration mounting.
After all, it took her over an hour to scour every level of the ski track to find them.
Swaddled in layers of bulky ski gear and worn out from their search, Savannah and her entourage had little energy for skiing. But for Savannah, skiing had never been the point–getting closer and being alone with Jeremiah was.
Her two companions, ever–loyal since their high school bullying days, shared a knowing glance. The one with her hair tied into a bun smirked disdainfully before speaking.
“Savannah, don’t worry,” she convinced. “How could he not have feelings for you? It’s just that his girlfriend’s here.
“When she’s gone, he’ll realize what he’s missing. You’re so much prettier and a hundred times sweeter. Honestly, you’ve got impeccable taste in men.”
The girl’s voice brimmed with admiration, but beneath it lay a trace of envy. Savannah soaked in the flattery and wore a smug expression as though Jeremiah were already hers.
“Well,” Savannah began, “it’s not like I would break up a couple. But if Jeremiah did make the first move… It’d be really hard to refuse.”
She tried to look conflicted, but the smugness in her eyes betrayed her. The second girl also spoke in agreement.
“It’s not your fault, Savannah. Men like Jeremiah have the right to choose. You’re clearly better. Don’t feel bad about it,” she consoled.
Savannah regarded the two girls with satisfaction, smoothing her hair as she requested, “All right, I need a favor from you two. Do it well, and those designer bags you saw yesterday will be yours.”
The girls‘ eyes sparkled with excitement. Their families were not nearly as affluent as Savannah’s, and while they often made do with mid–tier luxury, the mention of a limited–edition bag sent their heads nodding eagerly.
“Savannah, just say the word! We’ll take care of it. You can count on us,” they said enthusiastically.
Savannah smirked as she took in their greedy expressions. These two would jump at the chance to do anything for her as long as money was involved.
All she had to do was step in at the perfect moment, let them do the dirty work, and let her own charm and kindness steal the spotlight.
Having thought out her schemes, Savannah leaned in, whispering, “When you’re skiing, can you knock that girl’s snow tube over?”
The two girls nodded in unison, responding, “Got it, Savannah.” They were well–versed in such antics, and the promise of exclusive designer bags only fueled their eagerness.

Jeremiah had been pulling the snow tube back and forth, his energy seemingly endless. After the fifth or sixth trip, he finally paused and glanced back at Yvette nestled in the tube.
Her delicate brows and deep, soulful black eyes peeked out from beneath her hood. There was something both endearing and mesmerizing about her.
He cleared his throat and then asked, “Cold?”
Yvette shook her head lightly, answering, “Nope.”
Jeremiah fought back a smile and replied, “Good. Then let’s keep going.”
Before Yvette could respond, Jeremiah’s expression hardened as a glacial chill settled over him. Without a second glance, Yvette moved with fluid precision, springing out of the snow tube.
Jeremiah and Yvette sidestepped in unison, moving away from the snow tube.
Once steady, they turned their attention uphill, where two figures were hurtling down at breakneck speed, their trajectories aimed directly at the tube.
The next moment, the figures swerved straight onto the snow tube, toppling it over.
Their momentum carried them forward, and with no way to stop, the two figures were launched into the air in a chaotic arc before landing face–first in snow, echoing out twin groans of pain.
To begin with, the track was quiet with few people around, but the sharp cries of pain drew attention. Heads turned in unison toward the pair now half–buried in the snow. ‘What’s going on today?‘ they wondered.
From her hiding spot, Savannah had planned to cling onto Jeremiah after Yvette got knocked over, giving her a chance to be alone with him.
However, instead of flipping the snow tube as planned, her accomplices ended up sprawled in the snow.
Her face went rigid, and her thoughts churned. ‘Absolutely useless! They couldn’t even pull off such a simple trick. Now everything is ruined. What do I do next?‘
Just as frustration boiled over, her gaze shifted to the two injured girls lying pitifully in the snow. Her eyes lit up as a new idea formed in her mind.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah and Yvette stood beside the overturned snow tube–expressionless, eyes darkened–as they stared at the fallen girls.
Jeremiah deduced, “It was deliberate. They adjusted their speed midway. They were aiming for your on purpose.”
Yvette’s perfectly arched brows lifted, gazing at the two howlingirls. With a casual shift of her weight, she bent one leg. There was a cold look in her dark, piercing eyes as she kicked a clump of snow aside.
With a nonchalant tone, she murmured, “Seems like I’m becoming quite the target.” As she spoke, the helmets of the fallen. women rolled off, revealing their familiar faces.
Yvette and Jeremiah merely glanced at them briefly before looking away, their expressions showing hardly any surprise.
The two girls lay motionless, afraid to move, thinking their legs had been shattered. Their minds raced, replaying the words Yvette and Jeremiah had spoken in the car, and a sense of dread gripped them.
