Chapter 0048 – Seraphina’s POV
I couldn’t help but laugh at Fiona’s exaggerated excitement.
“Can you really get the Alpha of Obsidian Crest Pack to ‘get his butt back here’?”
She pinched my arm, making me flinch. “Sure can, since he’s my brother! Now, are you going to tell me or not?”
I cleared my throat and pulled her into the luxurious, castle-like house.
We found a quiet corner, and I told her everything that had happened since Damon brought Althea back.
“OH MY GOD!!!” she screamed, her voice echoing in the grand room. “Caden proposed to you?!”
“Shush!” I pleaded, pressing my finger to my lips. “It wasn’t a proposal. He gave me a contract. If I sign it, I’d just be his fake Luna for a year—nothing else.”
She sucked in a breath. “That’s the most unLuciantic proposal I’ve ever heard.”
“It’s not a proposal…Never mind.”
I gave up trying to correct her. Fiona had always been a hopeless Luciantic.
“Actually, I wanted your opinion. Do you think I should say yes to your brother?”
She nodded eagerly, looking like she was about to burst with excitement. But I raised a hand to stop her.
“Please think it through first,” I said seriously. “As my friend, do you really think marrying Caden is a good idea?”
Her smile faded, and her expression grew thoughtful.
“I mean… I won’t lie for Caden. He’s definitely been a playboy—never dated the same girl twice. But you’ve got to remember he’s the Alpha of Obsidian Crest Pack and the owner of Hawthorne Enterprise. He has so many options, and honestly, most of those girls were throwing themselves at him. He just didn’t turn them down.”
I sighed. I knew that was the truth.
You can’t blame a guy for being too attractive.
“But I believe that once he’s married, he’ll be loyal,” Fiona added. “I’ve never seen him care about anyone the way he cares about you.”
I gave her a wry smile. The problem wasn’t loyalty; it was the deal itself. Could I handle another potentially toxic relationship after Damon?
“So you’re saying I don’t need to worry about any women around Caden?” I pressed.
Fiona hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her face.
“What’s that?” I asked, my heart sinking.
“Well… there’s one person who’s special,” she admitted reluctantly. “…Helena.”
Of course, it was Helena.
“What’s special about her besides being Caden’s CFO?” I couldn’t hide the irritation in my voice.
“She’s the woman Caden spends the most time with. He might not remember how many girlfriends he’s had or even my birthday, but he always knows when he has a call with Helena.”
I tried to reason it out. “That just means they’re workaholics…”
Fiona winced. “She was Caden’s fiancée.”
I gasped, staring at her in shock.
“It was two years ago,” Fiona explained. “The elders and shareholders were pressuring Caden to get married for the sake of his image. Of all the women, Helena stuck around, so her name naturally came up.”
“And?”
“They called off the wedding before it happened. Officially, it was a mutual decision, but Helena was pretty upset, so I’m guessing Caden ended it.”
I fell silent, my thoughts racing.
Even if this marriage was just a business deal, it was bound to be complicated.
After my draining marriage with Damon, did I really want to jump into another one?
But Caden had already helped me so much with Damon and Althea. If I rejected him now, it would feel like I’d just used him.

“So, what’s your decision?” Fiona tugged on my sleeve eagerly. “I really want you to be my in-law. Just thinking about it makes me so happy!”
I forced a smile. “I might need more time to think. I’m still not divorced yet.”
“But didn’t you say Caden wanted your answer by the end of tomorrow?”
I groaned. She giggled.
“Alright, alright, I know you’ll make the right choice.” She grabbed my hand and pulled me off the couch. “Didn’t you say you needed to send your divorce papers to the Supreme Tribunal? Let’s go together!”

Mailing those papers felt both heavy and freeing.
Damon, my first love, my mate…It was officially over now.
Fiona insisted on celebrating my divorce.
We returned to the villa and started with some wine, but it quickly escalated to us heading to the most luxurious nightclub downtown. Fiona, in true Fiona fashion, ordered the most expensive champagne and sprayed it over the dance floor like water.
“To the ex-husband! May he burn in hell!” she yelled, climbing onto a table.
We drank way too much. The second half of the night was a blur.

When I woke up, the world was spinning. My hangover was killing me.
I gagged, feeling nauseous.
“Awake?” a deep voice asked.
I froze, realizing I wasn’t at the nightclub anymore.
It was quiet. I was lying across the backseat of a car.
Caden was sitting next to me, still in his sharp suit, holding a tablet and raising an eyebrow at me.
“…How did I…?” My voice was hoarse.
“I got a call from security saying Fiona was drunk and refusing to go home. So I came to get you two.”
“Then why are we still in the car?”
“You wouldn’t let the car move,” he said with a shrug. “You said you’d throw up if it did.”
Good job, Seraphina. You forced him to sit with your drunk, stinking self while you snored away.
I wanted to disappear. “You shouldn’t have bothered…I can find my way back.”
“I don’t mind,” he said, his eyes locking onto mine.
“Besides, I wanted to see you in person and remind you of something.”
He gestured toward the car’s clock. I realized it was already 6 a.m.
“A new day has started. You’ve got less than 24 hours to decide.”
