Chapter 104: Returning to the Greenside Garden
Asensation, a brief chill, a fleeting warmth.
In this manner, the temperature fluctuated within her.
She couldn’t perceive where she was exactly.
Suddenly, her long developed vigilance made her abruptly open her eyes-
Before her was no longer the dim dungeon and boundless icy waters.

“Awake?” A clear, cool voice sounded by her ear, familiar to her–it was the voice of Max.
Subconsciously, Charlotte looked up.
Max was sitting by her bedside, in a wheelchair.
His enigmatic and handsome face showed no emotion, but his deep–sea–like eyes were fixed on her, as if capable of drawing someone in.
“You” Charlotte sat up from the bed, supporting herself halfway, looking bewildered. “It’s you who brought me back?”
She could hardly remember clearly what happened after being locked in the dungeon and submerged in icy water.
She vaguely recalled someone coming to rescue her, but the memory was hazy.
Max denied, “No.”
He certainly couldn’t reveal the truth.
“I don’t know who brought you back to the Greenside Garden. When you returned, you were soaking wet,” Max said, observing Charlotte’s furrowed brow, seemingly tangled about who exactly rescued her, so he calmly spun a lie.
Charlotte glanced at Max, her eyes showing a mix of confusion and daze.
She truly wanted to know who had saved her.
Who had pulled her out from that icy water…
Unfortunately, she couldn’t remember at all.
Her gaze shifted downward, and Charlotte suddenly realized she was wearing pajamas.
Her clothes had been changed.
With this realization, she instinctively looked at Max in front of her.
Her eyes widened slightly, cheeks flushing with a hint of crimson, struggling to find words.
She wanted to ask but didn’t know how to start.
Though they were married, and it was perfectly normal to change clothes, the thought of being potentially seen by Max made her inexplicably
embarrassed.
Seeing her in this state, Max could sense what she was thinking and calmly explained, “The female servants helped you change your clothes.”
Upon hearing this, Charlotte felt even more embarrassed.
“Now that you’re awake, rest well,” Max advised, then changed direction and prepared to leave.
Charlotte looked at the man’s departing figure. She suddenly realized that since she returned to the Greenside Garden until now, has this man been by her bedside all along?

She had Been fixated on who rescued her, but she forgot about Max***
Charlotte pretended to attempt to get out of bed, wanting to personally escort Maxback-
However, before her feet touched the floor, the butler suddenly appeared and whered Max
Charlotte had no choice but to sit back on the bed.
It was three in the morning.
Yet she felt no trace of sleepiness.
Today’s events, at least, made her realize one thing.
x has quite a few enemies, and they are formidable.
Even though Max’s leg will be healed in the future and he will begin to showcase his talents, that is a matter for bacter
For now, Max remains confined, unable to leave, and is a seemingly harmless disabled man. Who could hate him so made
Max returned to his study.
Lance was waiting there.
“Mr. Foster, everything has been handled properly, leaving no traces,” he reported to Max in an orderly manner. “We were careful, and Dragon Son’s identity has not been exposed, nor has our connection to Royal Sky. That person probably can’t guess, all of this is the Mr. Foster’s doing”
Max’s influence hasn’t been exposed–this is definitely good news.
Lance knew well that even though Max is immensely powerful now, the opposing faction’s influence is deeply entrenched
So, now is not the right time to reveal everything.
Over the years, Max has been carefully planning every move, setting up the pieces for a big game, all to ensure that in the future, he can eliminate all his enemies effortlessly.
He pretended to be disabled, feigning weakness. On one hand, it’s to secretly build up his own power and strategize, and on the other hand, its pa confuse his enemies.
A talented and outstanding fourth son of the Foster family is destined to be targeted and resented by those with ill intentions. Otherwise, Mr. Foster wouldn’t have been left disabled previously…
But a crippled man is viewed differently; no one would take notice.
Hence, even though the Mr. Foster’s legs have long been healed, and he has become the leader of Royal Sky, he still stays in the Greenside Garden, playing the part of a helpless cripple.

Fortunately, the outcome is positive.
“Even though it hasn’t been exposed,” Max slightly narrowed his deep eyes, his expression as indifferent as ice, “that person is naturally suspicious. My wife was rescued by a group of unknown individuals. He’ll inevitably suspect me.”
He raised his eyes and looked out into the pitch–black night through the window, where the bright moon hung high, but was mostly obscured by the dark clouds.
“In the future, it probably won’t be peaceful,” Max said, his thin lips lifting slightly as he uttered these words coldly.
Charlotte couldn’t fall asleep and could only keep her eyes closed, symbolically squinting for a while.

She was awakened by the noisy ringtone of ho
phone.
She reached out to the bedside table, closing her eyes and fumbling for a while until she found her phone.
Charlotte lay in bed, eyes half–closed from exhaustion,
answered the phone, “Hello…”
[“Boss, did I disturb your sleep?“] The caller was Arnold, and he seemed taken aback by how weary Charlotte’s voice sounded.
Upon hearing this, Charlotte immediately opened her eyes.
Arnold seeking her out likely meant something serious.
“What’s going on?” Charlotte sat up from the bed, the fatigue in
her
eyes slowly dissipating.
ast time, didn’t you ask me to investigate Max Foster’s romantic history?“] Arnold continued, [“I looked into it thoroughly and was just about to report back to you…“]
Charlotte’s gaze paused.
If Arnold didn’t bring it up now, she would have forgotten about it.
“What did you find?” she asked coldly.
[“I didn’t find anything. There are no close relationships with the opposite sex around Max,“] Arnold said nonchalantly, [“Not a single one in all these years.“]
“Not a single one?” Charlotte squinted slightly, her gaze deep.
[“So, either Max hides it very well, or…“] Arnold began, intentionally leaving a cliffhanger.
Charlotte furrowed her brow, impatiently saying, “Just spit it out.”
Arnold chuckled, [“Or perhaps, Max likes men!“]
Charlotte: “”
[“Boss, don’t be too skeptical. He’s inseparable from his henchman, Lance, and who knows, it might actually be…“] “Enough,” Charlotte interrupted with a furrowed brow, displaying an expression as if dealing with a fool.
Whether Max likes men or women, no one knows better than her. After all, she was the woman Max couldn’t attain before.
“If you don’t believe it, that’s fine,” Arnold huffed, “But during my investigation, I did come across something very strange.”
