From far away, Cherise could hear Phoebe’s hearty laughter at the Chivers residence.
“Cherise, I miss you so much! Seeing you makes me thrilled.
“You’ve been through a lot these past few days. I had planned to wait for you at the Chivers Residence that day, but Morris advised against it, saying it was late and I shouldn’t disturb you.
“His stern face looked so intimidating, so I didn’t dare to go.
“I’m glad you came today.
“Come on, let me see if you’re all right. I saw the news. It was really upsetting.”
Cherise loved spending time with Phoebe, an open–minded and optimistic lady.
Smiling, Cherise said, “Don’t worry. I’m all good.
“I’m sorry. It’s been way too long since I last visited you, Grandma.”
Phoebe laughed happily and said, “It’s okay. We’re family. We should understand each other well.
“I’m so happy that you become my granddaughter–in–law.
Come on over, Enya has prepared delicious food, and it smells amazing.
“Cherise, my dear, you look like you’ve lost some weight. Be sure to eat a lot today and regain your strength.”
Every time at the Chivers residence or when Phoebe and Cherise were together, Morris always seemed to blend into the background as if he were invisible.
Cherise and Phoebe walked arm in arm in front, while Morris followed behind, appearing a bit lonely.
After the meal, Cherise’s belly was all puffed up from all the food she was lovingly given.
It was probably a common thing with elders. They just loved seeing the younger ones eat heartily, which brought them a special kind of joy.
With a toothpick in hand, Phoebe glanced at Cherise, then at Morris, before letting out a deep sigh. Morris lifted his gaze and looked over, asking, “What’s up again? Just say it, no need to keep sighing.”
Cherise gave Morris a brief glare and turned back to Phoebe, asking, “Grandma, is something wrong?”
Phoebe suddenly got slightly angry and looked at Morris, complaining, “Look at you, bad boy. Cherise is really the best and the most thoughtful. She always talks to me so sweetly.”
Morris felt excluded. He offered Cherise a faintly helpless smile and sipped slowly from his glass.
Cherise chuckled and asked Phoebe again, “Grandma, is something bothering you?”
Phoebe nodded, looking a bit downcast, and said, “Yes, indeed.
“Cherise, a couple of days ago, I went for a walk in the park with Enya and ran into an old classmate of mine from when I was young. Her name’s Fiona Lennon.
“She’s around my age, and I haven’t seen her in decades. Can you guess how she’s doing?”

Morris instantly understood what Phoebe was up to and just quietly watched her without saying anything.
Phoebe was so excited that she slapped her knee and continued, She was dropping the kids off at kindergarten–two little ones, a boy and a girl, both with naturally curly hair. They looked like two big, fluffy mushrooms. They were just the cutest.
Morris chimed in after hearing this, “Taking her great–grandkids to kindergarten, right?”
Phoebe got even more thrilled at Morris‘ words and replied, “Not her grandkids, but her great–grandkids. They are her grandson’s children.
“Fiona’s two years younger than me, and her great–grandkids are already in kindergarten. Isn’t that just frustrating?”
Enya, who was standing nearby, couldn’t help but laugh out loud
Everyone present could understand Phoebe’s meaning.
Morris gently coughed a few times.
Cherise blushed a bit and said, “Grandma, do you want to help us send the kids to kindergarten? Morris, we…”
As she spoke, she glanced at Morris.
Morris interjected, “Grandma, are you urging us to have kids?
Cherise is still young. More importantly, I don’t want kids yet. I want to enjoy a couple more years of just the two of us.” He was trying to help Cherise out of the situation.
After he said so, he shared a look with Cherise.
Cherise lowered her head and smiled.
Phoebe saw their silent exchange and couldn’t help but laugh too. She said, “Well, I’m not really pushing you. Seeing how close you are, I just remember the incident.
“You’re still young, and I can understand wanting to have fun for a few more years.
“Honestly, it’s been a long time since we had a family celebration and you see, I’m getting older and not sure how many more years I have left.
“I’m not even talking about having grandkids or great–grandkids right now. I’m just wondering when you plan to have a wedding to bring some joy to the family.”
Morris knew what Phoebe was hinting at. Firstly, she wanted them to have a wedding. Then she would naturálly persuade them to have kids. She just took her time to finish her plans step by step.
Morris chuckled, about to speak, but Cherise said first, “Grandma, I’m ready anytime. It just depends on Morris.”
Morris raised an eyebrow, surprised by the unexpected turn of events. Of course, he wanted to have a grand wedding for Cherise to show the world how happy she was with him.
Hearing Cherise’s words, Morris quickly said, “Your wish is my command.
“Leave it to me. I’ll take care of the wedding details, You just need to stand beautifully by my
side
as my
bride on
that day.
“As for the date, Grandma can choose it for us.”
Knowing that the wedding was on the agenda, Phoebe was delighted and didn’t insist they stay the night.

On the way, while waiting at a traffic light, there was a moment when Morris‘ vision blurred as he glanced out the windshield.
He felt the world become unclear, but only for a brief moment.
After blinking firmly, Morris noticed that his vision had returned to normal.
