Chapter 21
Chapter 21
The last time Daniel Brown saw Lily White was at the civil affairs bureau, where they were handling their divorce procedures.
She looked much better than last time.
She had changed her hairstyle, was dressed elegantly, and greeted him with a distant smile.
“I’ve already talked to my parents. They shouldn’t bother you.”
She seemed a little surprised, as if she had just remembered.
That’s good. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to explain it to your parents.”
Daniel Brown felt a little bitter. During the wait in line, he tried to make small talk.
“I’ve made things clear with Anna Green. We will never, and can never, be together again.”
Daniel Brown wanted to say more, but was interrupted by Lily White.
“You don’t have to tell me these things. It has nothing to do with me anymore.”
Daniel Brown fell silent for a while before speaking with difficulty.
“Have your parents found out? Are they okay?”
Lily White seemed to think of something and her expression softened.
“Yeah, they know.”
Lily White didn’t continue speaking, and Daniel Brown began to guess aimlessly.
Her father wasn’t really concerned about marriage, was it her mother’s reaction that had caused her change in expression? Daniel Brown wasn’t sure. He didn’t even dare to think about it further.
Previously, he had used Lily White’s mother to attack her.
Whether Daniel Brown felt the waiting time was long or short, they eventually finished handling the divorce procedure.
Daniel Brown called out to Lily White as she was about to leave.
“I’m sorry for the way I hurt you before.”
Lily White smiled. “I don’t need your apology. But, goodbye.”
Daniel Brown didn’t ask why she didn’t need it. Instead, he asked a different question.
“I bought a bouquet of white lilies. The ones you like.” Daniel Brown said nervously, “Do you want them? They’re for you.”
“You keep them.”
She turned and walked away, the sunlight shining ahead of her.
