Chapter 8
Ethan stumbled back to Sophie Quinn’s apartment. She was lounging comfortably on the sofa, sipping juice in a revealing silk nightgown
When she saw him, she quickly stood up and, as usual, pouted playfully.
“Datling, you’re finally back. Ive been waiting forever! You need to make it up to me.”
To her surprise, than brushed her hand away coldly.
“When did you send these photos to Claire? Who told you to do that?”
Froze for a moment, pretending to look confused.
“What photos? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
As she spoke, she tugged her nightgown lower, showing off her cleavage, and purred seductively.
“Forget about that. Look at my new nightgown. Don’t you want to try it out?”
Ethan threw a stack of photos at her, his voice filled with fury
“Are you incapable of anything but seduction? Look at these photos! Open your eyes and explain yourself!”
The angles of the photos made it clear they could only have been taken by someone close to them. Sophie was the only plausible culprit.
Her face paled, but she still refused to admit anything. She picked up the photos, glanced at them, and retorted stubbornly.
“How would I know who took these? Maybe Claire found out about us and hired someone to follow us.”
Ethan’s hand shot out, grabbing her by the throat, his tone dangerously low.
“Don’t you dare blame her! Do you know how much humiliation you caused me today?”
“Why the hell did you record those videos of us? I didn’t know you had such disgusting hobbies.”
He had never recorded such intimate videos himself, leaving Sophie as the only explanation.
Terrified, Sophie clawed at his hand, choking out pleas for mercy.
“Let me go…cough I can’t breathe cough.”
Ethan finally released her, and she collapsed onto the floor. coughing violently.
As she caught her breath, his voice cut through the room like a blade.
“I won’t repeat myself. If you don’t come clean, you’ll regret it”
Sophie glared at him, her bitterness spilling out.
“Why did I do it? Isn’t it because of you?”
“You want to have it all–me, her, your perfect little life. If you had come clean with her earlier, none of this would’ve happened!”
“This mess is all your fault. If you could control yourself, we wouldn’t be in this situation!”
Ethan’s face turned red with rage. He picked Sophie up and threw her onto the bed, pinning her down.
“I’m ruined, you’re coming down with me! Let’s see how filthy you really are!”
He tore at her clothes in fury, his eyes filled with a mix of hatred and madness.
Sophie screamed, terrified. “Stop! You’re insane! I’ll call the police!”

Chapter 8
Their loy argument caught the neighbors‘ attention, and someone called the authorities.
I learned about the incident when I got a call from the police.
“Mrs. Walker,
r, your husband had a dispute with a woman. Could you please come to the station?
I hadn’t planned to go, but curiosity got the better of me,
When I arrived, Ethan was sitting in a corner, his clothes in tatters and his face stormy.
Sophie, equally disheveled, was wrapped in a police officer’s jacket, sobbing dramatically.
Ethan glanced at me but said nothing, knowing there was no defense for his actions.
glice officer approached and explained,
“Mrs. Walker, according to the woman, your husband attempted to assault her. We’ll need to detain him for investigation. Please sign here to confirm your understanding.”
Ethan quickly jumped to his own defense.
“I didn’t try to assault her! She’s lying! Claire, you have to believe me!”
Iraised an eyebrow, surprised by how quickly they had turned on each other.
After signing the documents, I learned the full story from the officer.
When trouble struck, their relationship crumbled instantly.
Ethan’s temporary absence worked perfectly for me. His company’s stocks were plummeting, and I took the opportunity to buy shares.
By the time Ethan was released, I had become the second–largest shareholder in his company.
When he found out, he was stunned.
“How is this possible? Where did you get the money?
In his mind, I was nothing more than a housewife, someone he had long dismissed as insignificant.
I remained silent as my assistant stepped in
“Dur president is the CEO of Oakwood Enterprises. Of course, she has the resources to make these moves. You shouldn’t be surprised.”
“Besides, your company wouldn’t exist today without Oakwood’s initial investment. You should be thanking her.”
Ethan stared at me in disbelief, finally realizing the depth of his ignorance…
So you’re from Oakwood Enterprises? That investment back then–it was all because of you?”
I nodded, and my assistant smirked as she added,
“If it werent for our president, do you think anyone would have invested in your little startup? You’ve really overestimated yourself”
Her sharp words were cathartic, so I let her continue, silently watching her vent on my behalf
