Meanwhile, Cherise and Morris were already on their way back to the Chivers Residence.
Originally, they wanted to invite Mary to dinner, but considering her current mood, they decided against it.

In the car, Cherise glanced shyly at Morris and asked, “Why do you keep staring at me?”
Morris reached out and gently patted Cherise’s head, saying, “I’ve really missed you these past few days.”

Her remark didn’t bother Morris at all, and he kept moving towards her.
When Cherise was nearly pressed against the car window, Morris chuckled, wrapped his arms around her waist, and lifted her onto his lap.
Not having been around Morris for days, Cherise felt a little shy being held like that.
She whispered, “I haven’t taken a shower in days. I must smell terrible.”
Morris tightened his hold on her waist and leaned his head into the curve of her neck out of habit, saying, “You still smell so nice. I really like it.”
Steven and Hugh, who were sitting in front, automatically ignored Morris and Cherise’s flirtatious banter, seeing it as normal.
Just like when they came here, Leo wasn’t in the same car with them.
Since Kitten had been on the way all day, Morris asked Leo to take it straight back

to avoid tiring it out.
After a few hours of driving from the Yoderia Basin, they finally returned to the Chivers Residence as the night fully set in.
Even though she hadn’t showered in days, Cherise still fell asleep in Morris‘ arms.
Although she was feeling a bit hungry, she slept soundly when surrounded by Morris‘ familiar scent.

Truman and Xenia walked over to Cherise and said, “Happy Birthday, Cherise! You’ve had a hard time these past few days. Welcome back home!”
Truman beamed and added, “Cherise, Morris told me you’ve been quite tired recently and need some rest at home.
“So we decided to keep it simple and cozy, just Xenia and me.
“Go on, blow out the candles. Then let’s head to the backyard. I’ve prepared lots of fresh barbecue goodies.
“Can you smell that fragrance? It’s amazing. My grilling skills are just as good as Morris.”
Xenia chimed in, “Yeah, come on, Cherise, blow out the candles. You must be starving after these past few days, right?”
Cherise rubbed her stomach, catching the scent of grilled beef wafting over from the backyard. Indeed, she was quite hungry.
Morris looked at Cherise, leaned in, and whispered in her ear, “Sweetheart, today is your birthday and the first one we’re celebrating together. I’m so glad I brought you home for it.
“Make a wish and blow out the candles, and I’ll grill you a steak.”
Cherise nodded, looking gratefully at the group, clasping her hands together. She murmured, “I hope we all stay safe and everything goes smoothly.”
After speaking, Cherise gently blew, and the candle flame flickered out.
Then the Chivers Residence lit up, becoming just as splendid as always.
