With Lena’s situation under control, I turned my attention to my wedding plans.
Silas had promised me a grand ceremony, one that would cement my position as Luna.
I spent hours going over every detail with the wedding planner.
The flowers had to be perfect, the decorations elegant, and the guest list exclusive.
Silas wanted the ceremony to be in the open forest, under the moonlight, and I couldn’t have agreed more.
liss Lorelei, these are the sample invitations,” the planner said, laying them out on the table.
I picked one up, running my fingers over the golden lettering. “This one,” I decided. “It’s bold and sophisticated. Just like me.”
As the day went on, I got busier and busier. I barely had time to check on Joanne and Joey, my children. Branwen stepped in to help, as he often did.
“I’ll look after them,” he said. “You focus on your plans. But Lorelei, be careful.”
I frowned. “Careful? What do you mean?”
“Silas isn’t as simple as he seems,” Branwen warned. “Don’t let him control you.”
I laughed. “Control me? Branwen, I have everything under control. Silas is giving me what I want, and I know how to handle him.”
Branwen didn’t look convinced, but he didn’t argue. “Just remember what I said.”
With Branwen watching the children, I threw myself back into wedding preparations. There was so much to do, and I wanted everything to be perfect.
The day before my wedding to Silas arrived faster than I expected. Everything was ready–every decoration, every table, every small detail arranged perfectly.
Silas wanted a grand event, but to me, it was all meaningless. This wedding wasn’t about love, and I certainly didn’t care for him.
This was just a step in my plan to gain power and, eventually, take revenge on him for all the ways he had wronged me.
That morning, I decided to visit Lena while she worked. I found her in one of the company hallways, bent over with a mop in her hands. Her hair was messy under her cleaner’s cap, and sweat dripped from her forehead.
“Lena,” I called, making sure my voice carried an air of authority.
She straightened slowly, her expression already irritated. “What is it now?”
“I thought you’d like to know,” I said, smiling sweetly, “that tomorrow I’ll be marrying Silas.”
Her eyes widened, and for a moment, she looked like she’d been struck.
Then her face hardened, and she turned back to her work. “I don’t care,” she muttered.
I laughed softly. “Oh, I think you do. You see, once I’m married, I’ll officially be the Luna. You’ll still be here, scrubbing floors and cleaning toilets, while I’ll be at the top.”
Her grip on the mop tightened, and I could see her knuckles turning white. When she looked at me again, her eyes were filled with pure hatred.
“Enjoy your wedding,” she said through gritted teeth, her voice shaking with anger. “It might not go the way you think.”
I tilted my head, pretending to be unbothered, though her tone sent a shiver down my spine. “We’ll see about that,” I said, turning on my heel and walking away.
The day of the wedding arrived, and everything went exactly as planned–at first. Guests filled the grand hall, the decorations sparkled under the soft light, and the air buzzed with chatter and excitement. I stood in the dressing room, my white gown perfectly tailored, but I felt nothing.
Branwen knocked on the door. “Are you ready?” he asked, stepping inside.

“Yes,” I said, adjusting the veil on my head.
Branwen gave me a long look, his eyes filled with concern. “Remember what I said, Lorelei. Silas is not to be trusted.”
I smiled faintly, resting a hand on his arm. “Don’t worry, Branwen. I know what I’m doing.”
He sighed, clearly not convinced, but offered me his arm. “Let’s go.”
Branwen led me into the hall, and the guests turned to look at me as I walked down the aisle, Silas stood at the front, waiting with a confident smile that made my stomach churn.
The Matriarch of the Snowtooth Pack stood beside him, ready to begin the ceremony.
The Matriarch raised her hands to silence the crowd. “We are gathered here today to unite Silas and Lorelei in sacred vows,” she began.
But before she could continue, a loud crash interrupted her. Gasps and whispers spread through the room as everyone turned toward the noise.
A silver–furred she–wolf had burst into the hall, her eyes wild with rage. She snarled, knocking over tables and chairs as she stormed through the
crowd.
“What’s going on?” Silas demanded, his voice sharp.
“It’s Lena,” someone whispered, their tone filled with shock.
I froze, my heart racing as the she–wolf charged toward me.
Silas shifted into his wolf form and lunged to block her, but she dodged him easily. In a flash, she leaped straight for me, her jaws snapping.
