Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Cora Hope covered her mouth, laughing mockingly. “What’s the matter? Can’t keep up the act anymore? Let me remind you, everyone here has a video of your little bet just now. It’s too late to back out now.”
“Exactly. A bet is a bet–you should know the rules.”
A chill ran through me. A foreboding sense of defeat crept into my heart.
But Elijah Weston tilted his chin slightly, his expression cold and commanding.
“Lonly said to wait, not that I wouldn’t take you to the hall. Why jump to conclusions so soon?”
He glanced at me, his tone softening with concern. “My wife’s wedding dress has been torn apart by you lot. How can she walk down the aisle as the most beautiful bride like this?”
With that, he took out his phone and called his assistant, instructing them to bring a new wedding dress.
As he ended the call, Jared Donovan and his lackeys shook their heads with exaggerated smugness.
“Keep it up! The acting is Oscar–worthy at this point!”
“Elizabeth, where did you find this guy? And you gave him a CEO persona? That’s rich!”
“If you ask me, we shouldn’t bother with any grand hall. Let’s just stay here and wait for his so–called assistant to show up.”
I moved closer to Elijah, tugging lightly at the hem of his shirt, my voice low and uncertain.
“If I lose and have to take off the wedding dress, can you at least leave me your jacket?”
Elijah blinked in surprise before flicking my forehead gently.
“Silly girl, what are you thinking? Forget about the jacket. Don’t worry–no one will dare to bully you as long as I’m here.”
Despite his reassurance, my anxiety lingered. But soon, the sound of a car engine roaring in the distance broke through the tension.
Elijah patted my back gently. “The assistant is here.”
The crowd, once full of mocking jeers, now turned their attention to the approaching vehicle, phones raised to record the scene.
A seven–seater luxury car drove onto the lawn and came to a stop right behind us.
The assistant stepped out of the passenger seat, opened the car’s automatic door, and gestured politely toward me.
“Madam, your new wedding dress is ready. Please step inside to change.”
The once–boisterous crowd fell silent, stunned by the turn of events. No one had expected someone to actually deliver a wedding dress for me.
I climbed into the car, still a little dazed, and was surprised to find a professional makeup artist waiting inside.
She smiled warmly. “Your makeup wasn’t finished this morning. Let me touch it up for you.”
From behind me, I could hear Cora’s disdainful scoff.
“I thought they were supposed to be rich. But this? A van? Couldn’t they even afford a Mercedes or BMW?”
This time, I didn’t need to respond. Johnathan Atlas, standing next to Jared, cut her off before I could.
“Cora, that’s not a van. It’s a luxury business vehicle. Each one costs several million.”
“What?! Several million?!” Cora shrieked, unable to hide her disbelief.
As I settled into the car, I realized how spacious it was, far larger than it appeared from the outside.

Chapter 6
On the back seat, there lay a stunning wedding gown, meticulously arranged.
Even my torn veil had been replaced with a new one.
My nose stung, and tears threatened to spill.
The man I had loved for fifteen years had treated me like trash.
But this stranger, my new husband, treated me so well.
Perhaps, Jared Donovan and I were never meant to be. Our relationship was nothing but a cursed entanglement.
As I stepped out of the car, dressed in my new wedding gown, Elijah Weston extended his hand.
laced my hand in his palm and allowed him to help me down.
Not far away, Jared’s face darkened like ink. He glared at our interlocked hands and shouted, “Elizabeth, you’re finished!”
“The actor you hired just ruined this lawn by driving over it! Do you know how expensive the lawn at Emerald Manor is? You’re paying for this!”
It was only then that I noticed the tire marks left behind by the car when Elijah’s assistant drove onto the grass to reach me.
Panicking, I clutched Elijah’s hand. “What should we do?”
Elijah didn’t answer. Instead, he pointed toward a camera in the distance and said, “Smile, our wedding is about to begin.”
Suddenly, the sound system throughout Emerald Manor began playing the wedding march.
