Chapter 8
In the following days, I had to ensure that Davon Smith’s condition reached an irreversible stage before the divorce, with at least ten more days to go. He already had many
complications.
For example, hair loss, rapid weight loss, insomnia, a weakened immune system, constant
tigue, and frequent sneezing.
But, just in time, it was deep autumn, and colds were going around. Davon, ever the optimist, blamed these symptoms on catching a cold.
Only I knew that these were signs of his illness becoming more apparent, revealing that his body had reached a fragile state.
One day, I made a request.
“Let’s go to the Arctic.”
Davon looked puzzled, probably not understanding why I suddenly brought this up.
I smiled and pulled out an old photo from my phone.
“Don’t you remember? When we first started dating, you said you really wanted to visit the romantic Arctic. It was your dream.”
“I’m going to make your wish come true.”
I said this seriously.
Back when we had just started dating, we were indeed very affectionate. Davon had mentioned wanting to visit the Arctic, but we were broke back then. Later, with the grind of daily life, the plan was put on hold, and he gradually forgot about it.
“That’s how it was.”
Davon was deeply moved, staring at the old photo with a nostalgic look in his eyes.
He hadn’t traveled in a long time, and with his recent frustration over quitting his job, he

couldn’t help but feel tempted.
I quickly arranged for the visa, bought the tickets, sent Rainie to a friend’s house, and together with Davon, we set off for the Arctic.
Before boarding, I quickly updated my video status in the restroom.
…I’m fulfilling one of his wishes from when we were first in love, to take him to the Arctic. I’m about to board the plane, and we’ll be on our way in less than two hours.”
“Everyone, I’m going to complete our last journey together.”
As I choked on my words, my eyes were already red.
The screen filled with heartfelt comments and words of encouragement.
Countless people sent me warm messages backstage.
After switching our plane tickets to ship tickets, we finally arrived at the Arctic, the place Davon had always dreamed of.
The land was vast and silent, with deep valleys and endless silver expanses, gathering the ever–growing cold into a single day. Despite the stark white tones, the place was strangely
vibrant.
It was breathtaking….
I stood there for a moment, speechless, forgetting why I had come.
Humans, in the face of nature’s masterpiece, seemed so insignificant.
“Wow–cough, cough-
Davon, excited, suddenly broke into a violent coughing fit beside me.
But he didn’t think much of it and quickly returned to his excitement.
During our few days in the Arctic, we saw the stunning Northern Lights, playful polar bears, and the quiet snowfields… life and death blurred in this place.

I admit that I hated Davon for his infidelity. The love we once shared had turned into a blind hatred. My heart was in pain, dry, and everything pushed me to pursue relentless revenge. But during these days in the Arctic, I found my heart softening.
I think I had let go–let go of the tangled emotions of love and hate.

At least now, I could calmly seek my revenge, without placing myself in a constant pain, detached and entangled. I had become more at peace, able to appreciate the beauty in life that was uniquely mine.
I could easily kick away the bad things and people.
“Isn’t it beautiful?”
Davon suddenly appeared beside me, excitedly saying.
“Yes.”
I turned to him and smiled faintly.
Davon had changed a lot in these days. He often felt short of breath, his hands stiffened and were no longer as agile as before, and he frequently suffered from diarrhea.
These were all signs of his worsening condition, but before I could guide him subtly, he, would immediately assume it was just his body adjusting to the new environment, blaming his stiffness on the cold and his stomach problems on the local food.
It was time.
Soon, our four–day trip to the Arctic came to an end, and Davon and I prepared to return.
On the last day, I took off my wedding ring and threw it into a glacier.
Let my past love and marriage be buried in this cold place forever.
