It wasn’t me at the door.
It was Jane, his assistant.
She handed him a package. “Mr. Sterling, your courier. It seems to be from your house. I though you might need it urgently, so I brought it over.”
Hearing “from home,” Liam immediately thought of me.
He tore open the package. A divorce agreement stared back at him.
My signature was already there.
I’d asked for nothing; a complete renunciation of assets.
The blow was devastating. Liam stumbled back, Jane catching him. She stared at the papers, her face a mask of disbelief.“Mrs. Sterling… wants a divorce?”
Every woman in the city envied me. Liam was the perfect husband; even with my paralysis, he’d never wavered, showering me with affection.
Jane, as his assistant, had witnessed Liam’s devotion: leaving work on time, reporting to me on business trips, bringing me to every gala.
If I was even slightly unwell, he’d rush home.
He’d even hired a dedicated medical team to treat my legs.
How many women had a husband like mine?
Jane didn’t understand why I’d file for divorce.
But Liam did.
He’d betrayed my love. Everyone saw him as the perfect husband, but no one knew I was the perfect wife.
I’d unconditionally accepted his moods, meticulously planned our meals, hand–washed and ironed his clothes, and prepared his outfits every morning.
What had he done to deserve a wife like me?
He’d taken me for granted, having an affair, even a child. He deserved divorce.
He refused to believe I wanted a divorce.

We’d been together for so long. Could I really leave him? Give him up?
His

as he stared at the papers, tearing them into shreds.
“I’m not getting a divorce. I will never get a divorce!” As long as he didn’t sign, the divorce wouldn’t be final.
He’d find me, beg for forgiveness, and I’d forgive him.
Nothing could separate us, except death…
But he didn’t know the system had recalled me; my body lay beneath the cold ocean. Death would
separate us.
Jane shook her head.“Mrs. Sterling’s being unreasonable. You’ve been so good to her. How dare

“Shut up! Don’t you dare talk about my Summer,” Liam roared, his voice raw. Jane paled, falling silent. She’d never seen Liam like this; it showed Summer’s irreplaceable place in his life.
“She’ll be back,” Liam muttered, his eyes filled with stubborn determination.“She loves me. She wouldn’t leave. She’s just… playing games… She’ll be back.”
Jane, fearing a breakdown, suggested, “Should… we send someone to look for her?” Liam snapped, “Find her! Use every resource of Sterling Industries. Turn the city upside down, I
need to find her.”
“And AiYi. No matter the cost, get him back. Summer will want him when she returns.” “And rebuild Summer’s Shop. I want the most expensive, beautiful clothes, shoes, and bags in the world!”
Jane nodded.“Yes, sir.”
After Jane left, Liam went to the First City Hospital. He needed to know if I’d had the abortion.
