Rayburn was already irritated at the idea of visiting the Hawkins family.
He erupted when Rita accused Cherise of causing trouble. “Cherise is fine. If anyone’s stirring up trouble, it’s you.
“Don’t think I don’t know about the shady things the Hawkins family has done. If it weren’t for your son Toby begging me time and again, you wouldn’t even be part of the Muller family anymore.
“You should be grateful you have such a good son. He gave you his daughter, hoping you’d realize you still have family. hoping Yulia could soften your heart–not for you to use her as a bargaining chip.
You act so high and mighty, but only you know if it’s real or fake
I don’t know how much you meddled in our marriage back then, but if I ever find out Megan’s struggles were because of you, I’ll never forgive you or the Hawkins family.

The servant, clearly aware of the tension between them, felt awkward since this was the first time he’d seen such an argument, and hesitantly asked, “Mrs. Muller, are you…?”
Rita glanced briefly upstairs, snorted coldly, and, clutching the envelope Rayburn had shoved into her hands, turned and
left.
Outside, the driver waiting at the Hawkins residence entrance had been there for quite a while. When he saw her come out, he immediately straightened in his seat and started the engine.
Once she got in the car, she gripped the envelope tightly, glanced at it briefly, and said without expression, “Take me to the Hawkins family.”
After hearing the instructions, the driver stepped on the gas and drove away from the foot of Azure Peak.
At the Hawkins residence, Garrick had finally fallen asleep.
Just thirty minutes earlier, he had been writhing in pain, complaining of a searing, bone–deep ache, describing it as if thousands of ants were gnawing at the soles of his feet.
Fortunately, Yulia performed acupuncture, which helped him fall asleep.
However, it was likely just a temporary relief.
Cina sat nearby, sighing constantly and mumbling, “Why is my fe so miserable? My husband died young, my eldest daughter is in prison, and my youngest daughter ran away.
“And now Garrick is like this. Yulia, do you think the Hawkins family is finished?
“What am I supposed to do? My own family would never take me back, and I can’t bear to let them see me like this.
“Can’t you talk to Rita? She has to find a way to save Garrick and keep the Hawkins family from falling apart.”
Yulia, growing uncomfortable with her endless self–pity, struggled to find a response.
Just as she gathered her thoughts and was about to say somethin. Rita walked in from outside.

Rita didn’t acknowledge her. Instead, she walked over to the table, placed the tightly gripped envelope on it, and moved to the bed where Garrick lay sleeping.
At that moment, Garrick stirred awake, saw her, and said, “You’re here.”
Rita nodded, pulled a stool close to the bed, and sat down. “Does it still hurt?” she asked.
Garrick gave a faint nod and replied, “Much better, almost no pain at all now.”
Rita made a soft “Hmm” sound, then looked over at the envelope on the table. “Yulia, can you open that and see what’s inside?”
Yulia glanced at the table, picked up the envelope, and opened it
Inside was a single sheet of paper, aged and yellowed with time
Yulia slowly pulled it out.
As she unfolded it and read, her eyes widened in shock, and she good frozen.
“What is it?” Gina asked, standing up and moving closer.
When she saw the title on the paper, her eyes went wide just like Yulia’s. “A divorce application.
“Rayburn and Rita.
“This is the divorce application of Rayburn and Rita.
“This paper looks so old. It can’t be real, can it? Or some kind of joke?
“But why is Rayburn’s signature already on it?”
Gina kept talking, not stopping.
Garrick, still lying in bed, looked at his sister with concern, equally shocked. “Rita, what’s this?”
Rita seemed much calmer than the rest of them.
She looked up at Yulia, speaking in her usual calm voice. “Yulia, what’s the date at the bottom of the signature?”
Yulia’s hands were shaking as she tried to process what she was seeing
Her vision blurred, and after taking a deep breath, she finally looked at the bottom of the document. After a brief pause, she answered, “It’s… it’s July 7th, Year 14 of Clusia.”
Rira laughed bitterly. July 7th, Year 14 of Clusia. What a day, July 7th, Year 14 of Clusia.
“Do you all know what day that was?”
Gina and Yulia shook their heads.
Kita then turned to Carrick, who was still in bed, “Carrick, what
bout you? Do you know?”
Garrick sighed heavily and said, “July 7th, Year 14 of Clusia–tha was the day after you and Rayburn got marries
