Kathryn’s POV:
Grandma has always lived in the countryside and never visited the city. How can she possibly find her way? She must be terrified of being alone at the bus station!
I quickly said, “Grandma, please pass the phone to the driver. I’ll talk to him.”
“Sure, sure!” Grandma hurriedly handed over the phone.
The driver, clearly annoyed, said, “Why on earth would you let an elderly woman unfamiliar with public transport travel alone? She can’t even explain her destination; this is wasting everyone’s time!”
I apologized in a low voice, “I’m sorry to trouble you. Could you drop her off at the north gate of Sapphire Gardens? I’ll be waiting there. I’ll pay triple the fare. Is that okay?”
The driver replied gruffly, “Fine. But if you’re not there, I’m leaving her on the street.”
After ending the call, I got out of the car and turned to Lucian. “Can we reschedule? Something urgent came up.” Lucian stared at me but stayed silent. “My grandma just arrived, and I need to pick her up. It’s my fault for breaking our appointment today. Next time, I promise I’ll show up, no matter what.”
Worrying about Grandma, I hurried to the roadside, flagged a taxi, and left Lucian standing at the courthouse
entrance.
Lucian’s POV:
Kathryn suddenly decided not to get divorced.
Thanks to the unexpected coming of her grandma; otherwise, I have no way to stop her. But she is still determined to end things between us.
Even though human laws don’t apply to werewolves, I didn’t want Kathryn to leave me.
After some thought, I got back into the car, intending to visit Cornelius at Gladeast Entertainment.
Cornelius, who’s dated many human women, might know more about human women.
He handed me a coffee. “What’s up?”
I hesitated. Suddenly, I wasn’t sure how to explain my problem.
Cornelius, however, caught on and teased, “Did Kathryn dump you? Is that why you’re in a funk?”
I tightened my grip. “I’m not upset.”
Cornelius sighed. “Tone down your Alpha vibe. Kathryn’s a human woman. With that stone–cold expression of yours, it’s a miracle she stayed with you for three years.”
He leaned in. “So, have you two officially divorced yet?”
“Not yet. She left early for something else.”
Cornelius smirked. “She’s not serious about it then. Maybe she doesn’t really want it.”
My heart stirred, and I immediately asked, “Why do you think so?”
Cornelius said, “From my experience, she’s probably playing hard to get. She’s trying to grab your attention. Women say one thing but mean another. Women are stubborn but respond to coaxing. Just coax her a bit.”

Chapter 31
Walking out of Cornelius’s office, I was still a bit lost in thought.
Can it be that Kathryn doesn’t truly want a divorce? Is she still in love with me, just using this as a tactic to draw my attention?
Since Kathryn was never officially recognized, the pack had faced some turmoil over the past few years. Managing the pack and handling business in the human world had made me unintentionally neglect her. Reflecting on her recent behavior, it did seem like she’s been seeking my attention.
A flicker of excitement ignited within me. I longed to be the one she considered her top priority.
