Chapter 83
SERENA AND PETER spent the following day personally visiting everyone on the island who had been close to them. Of course, Alpha Perez joined them like he said he would, expressing his gratitude to those who treated his family like their
own.
Initially, everyone was shocked when Serena revealed her true identity and introduced her husband. But as they recovered from their surprise, they showed respect to the new Alpha King and smiles appeared on their faces when they began reminiscing about the memories, they shared with Serena and Peter. Alpha Perez then listened to their stories, feeling like he was a part of them because they were filled with joy and carefree moments.
He couldn’t help but think that Serena’s life on the island had been peaceful compared to what they had back home. That was when he realized that her decision to run away wasn’t such a bad one after all. In fact, it was a wise choice considering the stressful events and chaos that would have occurred if she had stayed in the North during her pregnancy.
She and their son would have been in danger if she didn’t leave. After all, he waged a war against the previous Alpha King months after she disappeared, and it lasted for two years. Knowing this made him all the more grateful for her decision. Even though the four years without her were unbearable, it was a small price to pay to see her and their child living a safe and joyful life without risking their lives in the war.
“The education on this island has room for improvement, so I’m considering the possibility of constructing a school where children can learn for free and receive a high–quality education without the burden of money,” Serena explained as they stood near the tree while watching Peter played with his friends for one last time.
“When I was talking to the residents earlier, I already thought of improving their life on this island. Not just them but everyone,” Alpha Perez drew her in by the waist, relishing the gentle wind that carried the scent of blooming flowers while they stood in a field of vibrant grass. “This island had been totally neglected by the previous Alpha King seeing how isolated and limited the lifestyle was.”
“Once we return to the capital, I will bring up the idea of adding the island to our list of places in need of improvement within the country with the council.” He added, and Serena couldn’t help but feel like he had transformed into a different person. He used to prioritize the Blood Moon Pack and the North, but now, he was already taking responsibility for the entire country.
The news was both incredible and hard to believe. It still hadn’t fully sunk in for her that her husband was now a King, and she had become a Queen in the blink of an eye. The responsibilities and duties waiting for her back at the palace were daunting, but she was determined to give her all and support Perez in the path he had chosen.
After all, there was no going back now.
“That’s reassuring to hear, but uhm…” she trailed off, looking up at him as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “How’s your relationship with my father? You didn’t get into a fight because he refused to tell my whereabouts, right?”
“Don’t worry,” Alpha Perez smiled, staring back at her, “Your father and I have a good relationship… After all, he helped me with the war, along with his pack members and Calix.”
“What?” Serena’s eyes widened, not expecting him to mention Calix.
“It may be surprising to hear, but that man has changed a lot. During my two–year reign as the Alpha King, his loyalty to me has never faltered. At first, I was suspicious when he took an oath and pledged his allegiance, to me. But as time passed and his actions proved genuine, I learned to trust him completely.” Alpha Perez’s explanation left Serena stunned, her face displaying clear shock and disbelief.
“I never would have thought that we could become friends when the only thing on my mind used to be killing him.” He scoffed, unable to believe that he was now friends with his wife’s ex–husband. It seemed too strange to be true. “You don’t hate me for being friends with him, do you?”
“N–no, of course not. If anything, I’m surprised and glad at the same time.” Serena stumbled over her words, trying to process the information that was slowly sinking in. “Calix’s the last person I expect to be a friend to someone like you. So,

it’s really nice to know that you’re able to forgive him like I did.”
“Right.” He chuckled because he was thinking the same. “By the way, he’s already an Alpha. Your father chose him to be his successor after his significant contribution in the recent war.”

“Really? I already had a feeling that Dad would appoint him, but it still surprised me, especially since Dad never mentioned anything whenever he wrote me a letter.” Serena responded, envisioning the amount of change that must have occurred during her absence. “What about Marga, what happened to her?
“She was able to survive my rejection, and she gave birth to a girl. However, she lost her leg in the war when the previous Alpha King attacked her and caused serious injury.” Alpha Pérez explained, causing Serena to cover her mouth in shock, “Surprisingly, she also changed… She’s now taking care of her child with the help of Mathias since Cesare no longer showed his face.”
“They’re currently living in the north where Mathias used to live so, you don’t have to worry about your half–sister anymore,” he added, wanting to assure his wife that there would be no more a hindrance in their marriage. “I made it clear to her that if she dared to appear in front of you or take any actions for revenge, I wouldn’t hesitate to kill both her and her child.”
“So, rest assured that she won’t try to get back at you for any past conflicts between the two of you.” Serena nodded, grateful for her husband’s reassurance. She rested her head on his arms, both of them watching as Peter laughed and played with his friends. The scene was filled with joy and tranquility, enough to bring a smile to their faces.
“I hope Peter will also have a lot of friends when we return,” she commented, which Alpha Perez heard clearly. “There’s no need to worry; he will fit in just fine with the other children in our pack. He’ll especially get along with Priscilla and Jarren’s son, who happens to be a year younger than Peter.” Serena quickly straightened her posture and turned to her husband, her eyes widening once again. It was becoming hard for her to keep track of how many times she had been caught off guard in the past day alone, and this new piece of information was just as shocking as the others.
“W–wait, they already have kids together?”
“Yeah, that Jarren bastard impregnated my sister before their wedding that happened a few months after the war ended.” Alpha Perez sighed, just thinking about it stressed him, but he didn’t hold any grudge against his beta.

my, thrprising… I can’t wait to see their child.” Serena’s eyes twinkled, getting excited about going back. It was a stark contrast to her worries yesterday. “What about Taylor? Has he found his mate yet?”
“Yeah, he’s engaged, actually,” He replied, bringing a smile to his wife’s face and adding to her happiness. The news of the war had initially caused her great concern for them, but now that she was hearing they were living in peace, she couldn’t be more thrilled to see them again.
Alpha Perez then kept filling her in on all the changes that had taken place in the last four years until the sun began setting. That was when they decided it was time to head back home so, Peter bid farewell to his friends and made a promise to visit them again soon.
Once they were done with the visit, the three of them made their way back to the vacation house where Annie and Marcus were waiting inside.
“You’re back,” he said as he stood up and bowed to show respect, “Sorry for coming in while you were away, Nanny insisted that I wait for you inside.”
“It’s fine, you’re not a stranger anyway,” Serena said before looking at Perez who was carrying Peter. “But what brings you here? Have you decided whether you will accept my husband’s offer?”
“Yeah,” He nodded as he looked at Alpha King Perez, “I pledge my allegiance, as well as that of my family, to you, Alpha King. It would be a great privilege to serve as Peter’s personal bodyguard, and I promise to protect him with my own life if necessary.”
