THE NEXT MORNING, Serena woke up feeling drowsy and disoriented. She let out a big yawn as she stretched her arms, only to realize that she had fallen asleep and missed dinner.
“Was I that tired?” She mumbled groggily, having slept for longer than she intended. The last thing she remembered was having a picnic with Perez outside, which was late in the afternoon, and it was already morning when she woke up. That meant, she slept for almost 15 hours.
“But why do I still feel tired?” She yawned again and sat up; her eyes adjusted to the light before she noticed that Perez was not beside her. Assuming he must be in his study, she began to get out of bed, but before she could move, the door opened, and he entered the room with a smile on his face.
“Good timing that you’re awake,” he said while carrying a tray full of breakfast. “Since you cooked a delicious meal for me yesterday, I asked the servants to help me make some breakfast for you today.”
“You cooked for me?” Serena’s eyes widened as she watched him set the food on the center table. She got off the bed and walked towards him, grinning when he wrapped his arm around her waist and drew her in close. Her gaze moved to the breakfast he had prepared: a humble sandwich with bacon and eggs, pancake and coffee. But the fact that he had cooked it himself made her appreciate it even more.
“It was not particularly impressive, but next time I will learn more dishes,” he replied with a chuckle as he wrapped his arms tighter around her.
“You made the food yourself, and that alone was already special Serena smiled before kissing him on the cheek, “Thank you.”
“You’re always welcome,” Alpha Perez returned the kiss, and then they both took a seat before eating breakfast. However, their peaceful moment was interrupted by a knock on the door from Beta Jarren, who announced that their visitor had arrived.
“Tell him to wait for me in the drawing room.” Alpha Perez said before his attention shifted back to Serena who asked him a question, her face etched with pure curiosity.
“Visitor? Who is it?”
“It was another Alpha from the pack I conquered.” he answered, patting her head gently, “Sorry, I’ll go and speak with him. Finish your breakfast, okay? I’ll be back.”
“Okay,” A small, tender smile played on Serena’s lips as she watched her husband hurry off, leaving his half–eaten breakfast behind. As soon as he was gone, a wave of sickness washed over her, catching her off guard. She quickly covered her mouth with her hand, willing the nausea to pass. With shaky hands, she reached for her water bottle and took slow, deliberate sips until her stomach settled down, but just when she thought the worst was over, another bout of nausea hit her like a ton of bricks, and she rushed to the bathroom.
After she finished throwing up, she splashed some refreshing water on her face, feeling guilty for rejecting Perez’s cooking. It wasn’t that the food tasted bad; in fact, it was quite delicious, so why did she throw up?
She gazed at herself in the mirror and couldn’t shake off a sense of unease. Besides feeling constantly fatigued, she had been experiencing strange symptoms that seemed to be getting worse by the day.
“I should go
and see the pack doctor,” she muttered to herself as she got dressed, then left the room and headed to the infirmary at the pack house to see the doctor. Luckily, there were no patients inside, so when the nurse spotted her, she promptly directed her to the doctor’s office.
“Good morning, Luna Serena. What brings you here?” He was caught off guard by her arrival and his surprise showed on his face as he stood up to greet her, “Are you feeling ill? You could have just asked someone to get me. You looked quite pale”
“It’s okay, I was planning on taking a walk anyways, so I figured might as well come by myself” she answered as she sat

down when he pulled the chair out for her, “I just wanted to consult something because I haven’t been feeling well lately. There have been moments where I’ve experienced sudden dizziness and nausea. Just earlier, I was eating fine but I ended up vomiting everything I had eaten for breakfast…”
Serena’s voice trailed off, her words faltering as she pieced together the symptoms she had been feeling over the past few days. The room then fell silent as she and the doctor exchanged surprised expressions.
“Wait,” she said, covering her mouth when the doctor smiled at her.
“You might be pregnant, Luna.” His words rang through the air, causing Serena’s heart to skip a beat with joy. The realization that she might be carrying their Alpha’s child filled her with an overwhelming sense of anticipation and excitement. Though they had not planned for children yet, the thought of starting a family together was enough to make her happy.
Slowly, she put her hand on her belly before looking at the doctor again.
“Do I need to go to the hospital to get some tests?” she asked, wanting to make sure that she was really pregnant.
“Yes, Luna. That would be the best course of action, as this infirmary only offers basic treatment. We are not equipped to perform any tests to confirm your pregnancy so, you would need to go to the hospital.” The doctor explained and Serena nodded, her heart still racing with excitement.
“Okay, but let’s keep this between us for now. I wanted to make sure our assumption was true before telling my husband and anyone else.” She smiled as she stood up and the doctor nodded, along with the nurse who looked as excited as she was. “Thank you.”
As soon as Serena left the infirmary, she headed straight for their room. She then quickly changed into more suitable clothing before making her way to where she knew her husband would be. When she arrived at the drawing room, she knocked on the door hesitantly, Alpha Perez immediately called for her to come in.
“Good morning, Luna Serena.” The alpha who was conversing with her husband stood up and greeted her. With his blonde hair and piercing green eyes, he almost seemed otherworldly. For a moment, she was in awe, but then she noticed Alpha Perez’s gaze on her peripheral vision. She forced a smile at the guest and greeted him back before she approached the table.
Sorry for interrupting your meeting,” she said, her gaze fixed on her husband, who appeared a bit upset that she was openly admiring another alpha in his presence. He did his best to hide it, but she could sense his discomfort. Now, she couldn’t help but feel bad.
“What’s wrong? did something happen?” he asked as he reached out and took her hand, pressing it playfully while she remained standing near the sofa he was sitting on.
“Nothing, I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be going out for a little while. I’ll be back in time for lunch.”
“Are you going shopping? I will come with you,” He tugged her lightly and she almost plopped onto his lap. Fortunately, that doesn’t seem his intention. She just shook her head in response, feeling shy with the other man present in the room.
“It’s fine, I’ll be quick. Besides you’re busy, so I will just bring some warriors with me.” Serena assured him with a smile as she pinched his cheek slightly. He sighed, hesitant to let her go because they couldn’t guarantee that it was completely safe for her to go outside. However, after debating whether he would let her or not, he eventually nodded.
“All right, but make sure to bring three warriors with you and return home before lunch. It wasn’t still not entirely safe for you to leave the pack house.” He raised her hand to his lips and pressed a soft kiss against it, sending shivers down her spine and causing her heart to beat faster than ever before. She glanced over at their visitor, who was deliberately avoiding looking in their direction. Her cheeks then flushed with embarrassment, realizing that their intimate moment was making him uncomfortable.
“I–I know, I’ll be leaving then, Hove you.” Serena kissed her husband on the cheeks and then hurried out of the room, heading straight to the hospital to confirm if she was pregnant.
