Chapter 47
SERENA let out a deep breath and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She had barely eaten anything, but she could already feel the signs of indigestion from everything that was going on. First, there was her father’s sudden change in behavior–she couldn’t tell if it was genuine or just a ploy to secure a business deal with Perez. And now, to add to the chaos, her sister turned out to be her husband’s destined mate.
The absurdity of the situation threatened to push her over the edge of sanity. The party had barely begun, and she already felt overwhelmed by everything happening around her. Still, she refused to let it ruin her overall mood as there were still important things she needed to address. So, instead of dwelling on this absurdity, he took a moment to mentally, emotionally, and physically prepare herself for what was to come
After taking a deep breath to calm herself, she left the bathroom. However, as she made her way down the hallway, she heard voices coming from around the corner. When she turned she saw Marga trying to touch Perez, who seemed uncomfortable with the gesture. Without hesitation, she pushed Marga away and stood between her and Perez, as if a protective instinct had suddenly kicked in.”
“What do you think you’re doing?” she snapped, her brows knitted together as she stared at her sister, “Were two men not satisfying enough for you? Now you want my husband, too? What, are you planning to take him away from me like you did with Calix?”
Marga felt a shiver of unease when Serena suddenly mentioned two men, causing her to question what she knew. But she quickly regained composure, not wanting her surprise to be obvious.
“Alpha Perez is my fated mate, Moon Goddess chose him for me since the very beginning.”
She stood her ground, avoiding the initial question she had asked. Serena let out a disbelieving laugh while Perez gritted his teeth, struggling to resist the urge to strangle Marga right then and there.
When she suddenly approached him earlier, he almost used a large amount of his alpha aura to make her back out. However, he quickly restrained himself when he realized the repercussions of harming her in this situation. He didn’t want to be seen as a villain alongside Serena. So even though he was disgusted by her desperation to speak with him, he could only avoid her advances and make it clear that she wasn’t welcome near him.
“What?” A voice they all recognized asked, causing the three to shift their attention towards Calix and adding to the already complicated situation they were in. Serena had hoped things would turn out differently, but she knew it was out of her

When he returned to their table earlier, he immediately noticed the absence of his wife. He had a gut feeling that she was up to something, especially when he didn’t find any gift in their room. At that moment, it became clear to him that she had lied just to get rid of him. And now, finding out that Alpha Perez was Marga’s fated mate left him confused.
“Stop following us.” Serena halted and turned to Marga even before they reached the door to the main hall where the party was being held. “Do you want to be rejected in front of everyone?”
“Who are you to make that decision? He wouldn’t reject me; he knew I was pregnant, so why would he intentionally put his fated mate in harm’s wa-
”
“Exactly, you were already carrying another man’s child, so where did you get the audacity to think my husband would want you as his mate?” Serena cut her off, refusing to listen to her sister’s utter nonsense before looking at Alpha Perez, “Do you want to be with your fated mate?”
“You know the answer to that,” With a quick touch to her chin, he pulled her into a kiss that she eagerly returned with a smirk. Marga and Calix watched from the sidelines, gritting their teeth in annoyance and pain as the two of them kissed without any consideration for those around them.

After they broke apart, they turned to look at their fated mates with rosy cheeks.

“Does that make things clear?” Serena asked, looking at Marga who was fuming with rage. “My husband’s way out of your league, and he would never consider choosing a woman like you as his mate.”
Without giving Marga a chance to respond, Calix grabbed her arm forcefully and pulled her away, insisting they needed to talk. Marga struggled to break free from his grip, but he held on tightly as if trying to avoid causing a scene and embarrassing them in front of their guest.

Serena and Perez could only stand and watch as the two made their way to the exit instead of joining them inside the banquet. Once they were gone, the couple shared a knowing glance before opening the door and entering the main hall. At that moment, Alpha Robert caught sight of them. He had assumed they had already left since he couldn’t see them anywhere, so he was taken aback and relieved at the same time by their appearance.
“Serena,” He called out, causing his daughter to look at him. Her gaze then shifted to Luna Emilia, who was clearly searching for Marga. “Where have you been? I thought you already left.”
“I just went to the bathroom,” she responded, unsure of how to process her father’s sudden change in demeanor from stern and cold to gentle. She had longed for this kind of treatment from him before, but now that she was receiving it, she didn’t feel the happiness she had always imagined.
“I see, can we talk now? I wanted to say something-” Alpha Robert was interrupted before he could finish speaking when the door to the hallway burst open, causing everyone in the room to turn their heads. Marga then stormed in, with Calix struggling to restrain her. It was obvious that she finally lost it, considering the scene she was making.
Marga was no longer concerned about disappointing her father; she was determined to make Alpha Perez hers no matter what.
“Mom! Help me!” she begged while running straight to her mother, causing Luna Emilia to frown in concern. She quickly placed a comforting hand on Marga’s shoulder, as if shielding her from something.
“What’s going on?” Alpha Robert asked, his voice filled with a mixture of confusion and anger. Serena’s face then twisted into a frown as she remembered her sister making the same face as she accused her of trying to kill her. The memory made her clench her fists, unable to wait any longer to reveal the truth.
“Calix… He was trying to get rid of our baby because he learned that Alpha Perez is my fated mate!” Marga’s announcement came before Serena could even react, causing a collective silence and gasps from everyone in the room.
For a moment, it looked as if time stopped. Everyone held their breath, and no one spoke until Calix finally broke the silence.
“Stop lying! I was just trying to keep you from making a scene. Alpha Perez was already married, just like you. Don’t you have any shame? You’ve already ruined my marriage to Serena, and now you want to ruin her second one too?” He yelled, unable to comprehend how she could twist the truth and paint him as a murderer. “I swear, Alpha Robert and Luna Emilia, I never had any intention of getting rid of the baby, your daughter’s making a story.”
“Calix’s right,” Serena’s voice chimed in, causing everyone to turn their attention towards her as she took a step forward. Calix was taken aback, not expecting his ex to stand up for him and try to defend him. Little did he know, he was about to uncover a shocking truth that would push him to the brink of insanity.
“What do you mean?” Alpha Robert asked, and Serena glanced at Alpha Perez before nodding, indicating that they should prepare Mathias to enter the banquet and for the warrior to distribute the newspaper to all those in attendance. She then turned her focus back to his father who looked confused as hell.
“Your eldest daughter was a white lotus, she liked making stories and acting like she was the victim,” she answered, causing Marga’s heart to skip a beat and Luna Emilia to frown. “I have a distinct memory of her doing this to me once before–she deliberately stabbed herself with a fork and made it look like I had done it. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to explain the truth because you didn’t give me the opportunity”

“Do you think I’m insane to stab myself?” Marga’s voice cracked from holding back tears and her eyes began to water, acting pitiful just to gain sympathy from everyone present, but Serena had enough of that.
“Yeah, you are beyond insane. More than anyone could have imagined.” Serena scoffed, taking a few more strides towards Marga and ensuring she was within earshot. She smirked and glanced down at her sister’s growing belly, which made Marga shiver, “You even managed to make Calix take responsibility for the child that wasn’t his.”
Whispers and murmurs started to circulate among the crowd as Marga stood motionless, her eyes fixated on her sister in disbelief. Even their parents and Calix were taken aback by Serena’s unexpected declaration.
“W–what the hell are you sayi-”
“Don’t even try to deny it, Marga. I have proof,” she interrupted, the tension in the room reached its peak as Perez’s warrior burst into the banquet, tossing newspapers into the air, and scattering them across the floor. Intrigued, the guests rushed over to pick them up, and their expressions grew in shock as they looked at it.
“You were having an affair with Cesare, weren’t you?”
