“YES,” the word that escaped Perez’s mouth surprised Serena. It echoed in her ears as she felt her stomach lurch and her thoughts race. Both of them were struck speechless after the revelation, lingering in a moment of stunned silence. They stood there, waiting to see who would break the silence first, until he finally spoke up. “Don’t worry, I will reject her so, don’t make that face, please?”
Alpha Perez gently placed a hand on her cheek and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, causing the guest to murmur in awe. It was clear to anyone watching that this married couple was deeply in love with each other, and the sight of the notoriously tough Alpha showing affection was unexpected for those present
“What face am I making?” Serena pressed her face into his hand, causing him to shiver in response,
“You looked like you’ve been dumped,” Alpha Perez responded immediately, taking her hand and gently pressing his lips to the back of it as their fingers intertwined. “Don’t worry, whatever is on your mind won’t happen. Why would I want someone like your sister when I already have you as my mate?”
Serena nodded, taking his words as a promise that he would reject Marga. But she still couldn’t grasp the idea that they were fated mates, even though this wasn’t their first time meeting. Why didn’t he feel a connection with Marga during the celebratory banquet? She wanted to ask him but held her tongue as she saw Alpha Robert approaching with Luna Emilia, followed by Marga and Calix.
Just then, the murmurs of the guests grew louder, witnessing the reunion between family…
“Happy Birthday, Alpha Robert.” Serena and Perez said in unison.
“Thank you for coming,” A smile spread across his face as he gazed at his youngest daughter. She didn’t look particularly thrilled to be there, but he was just glad to see her again. This time, he was determined to make amends for not being a better father and for all the issues that had arisen between them. She might suspect that he was only apologizing to please Alpha Perez, but that wasn’t his intention at all.
“Also, congratulations on your marriage.” Alpha Robert added, surprising Serena, “I could tell you’re happy, and I’m glad that you’re doing well.”
“I know I may seem like a hypocrite since I was the one who kicked you out, but I regr-” He was interrupted before he
her a look of scorn, but quickly regained could finish his sentence by Luna Emilia, who threw her arm around him. He gave his composure as he didn’t want to reveal any problems in his marriage to the guest.
“I apologize for interrupting, but I don’t think it’s appropriate to talk in the center of the room, especially when the guest was watching like we’re some kind of telenovela.” Luna Emilia explained, “Why don’t we let them eat before approaching them again? There are still many guests who want to speak with you.”
Alpha Robert sighed, knowing his wife had a point.
“All right,” he replied before facing Serena and Alpha Perez again, “You should eat first, I’ll just entertain our guests and come back to you later. There are a lot of things I want to discuss with you.”
The couple shared a look and silently agreed. Alpha Robert then excused himself and left with Luna Emilia while Marga and Calix stayed. Now, the guests became more interested at the sight before them.
“I’ll guide you to your seat,” Marga offered a friendly smile, and her eyes were fixated on Alpha Perez. He arched a brow, feeling disgusted that this shameless woman was his fated mate. The thought alone made him feel sick; he wanted to reject her immediately, even if it meant going against the desires of his wolf.
“Are we sitting at the same table?” he asked in disbelief as Marga and Calix settled themselves at the same table after they had taken their seats.
“Well, it was the arrangement I made because we’re family. Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable for you to sit with someone you don’t know?” Marga answered, making him scoff and Serena frown.

Once she had left, Marga reached out and placed her hand on top of Calix’s, causing him to look at her with a puzzled expression.
“What’s wrong?”

“I forgot my peace offering to Serena in our room, can you get it for me?” she said, knowing that there was no peace offering at all. However, in order to get rid of Calix, she had to fabricate a reason for him to leave and deceive him.
“Did you have one? What does it look like?” he asked in surprise, wondering why she would consider giving her sister a gift. Now he was curious about Marga’s intentions.
“It’s a yellow gift wrapper with a black ribbon. I can’t recall exactly where I left it, but it was definitely in our room somewhere,” she responded, and Calix simply nodded before getting up from his chair and exiting the room. Marga then shifted her gaze to Alpha Perez, who had been speaking with the old man.
As he finished their conversation, he glanced around the room before heading in the same direction Serena had gone earlier.
Now that she saw an opportunity, she wasted no time in standing up and rushing after him before he could even reach her sister.

“Family? How could you consider yourself family after what happened? She demanded, looking at her sister with disdain. Marga then placed her hand on her stomach, catching Calix’s attention. “And nothing was more uncomfortable than sharing a table with both of you.”
“I don’t know if you’re dumb or just plain insensitive.” Serena added as she arched an eyebrow, “Can’t you see how the other guests are watching us as if we are some sort of spectacle?”
“Don’t start an argument, Serena. Marga’s not allowed to be stressed, besides today is your father’s birthday. Can’t we be civil
“How dare you call my wife’s name without her title? And who do you think you are to give her orders as if you are superior to her?” Alpha Perez interrupted with a stern voice and dark expression; his disapproval evident as he witnessed Calix’s treatment of Serena. The sight sent shivers down Calix’s spine, fearing the potential consequences of his actions.
“Do I need to remind you that the woman before you is the Luna of the Blood Moon pack? Or do you not care because you believe you can continue treating her the way you always have?” He added, his alpha aura grew stronger, causing Marga and Calix to feel suffocated.
Before things could escalate, Serena intervened and touched her husband’s hand, calming him down. She couldn’t help but feel pleased that he was defending her and relieved that he showed no interest in Marga. And that was enough to ease her worries that had been lingering since earlier.
“I’m fine,” she said before placing a hand on his cheek, “Don’t waste your energy on the likes of them, let’s just enjoy our meal and don’t mind them.”
At the mention of those words, Alpha Perez immediately relaxed and nodded in agreement. Calix and Marga breathed a sigh of relief, their faces drained of color from the tense air that had surrounded them.
“I know things are—”
“Can you stop talking? We’re not close enough to hold a conversation while eating. Learn your place,” Serena cut off her sister before she could say anything else. Marga bit her lip in frustration but kept quiet, not wanting to cause any more trouble and risk their father’s anger. After all, he had been distant with both her and their mother lately; she couldn’t give him another reason to be disappointed or risk giving him another reason to be disappointed. If she did, he might take away her future position as Luna.
As Serena and Perez dug into their meal, they were deep in conversation, completely absorbed in each other’s company. Calix and Marga might as well have been invisible to them. It was embarrassing, but Marga couldn’t help stealing glances at Alpha Perez every now and then. She was certain they were fated mates, and he felt it earlier judging by his reaction.
The moment she sensed their connection when he entered the room, she was filled with conflicting emotions. A mixture of shock and happiness, but at the same time, anger bubbled up inside her knowing that his fated mate was married to Serena. Her resentment towards her younger sister only grew stronger, as even though she was no longer a member of their pack, she still managed to claim something that belonged to her.
Alpha Perez was the ideal mate for her, and if they joined their packs through marriage, they would be unbeatable. However, she was already bound to Calix, so she needed to come up with a plan. But first, she had to figure out how to have a private conversation with her fated mate.
“I’m just going to the bathroom,” Serena said after they were done eating.
“I’m going with you.” Alpha Perez wiped his mouth with a napkin and stood up. But before they could even leave, an acquaintance came over to talk to him, causing him to glance over at Serena. “He’s friends with my parents…. Sorry, I’ll talk to him a bit.
“It’s fine, I’ll be back.” she giggled because he was acting like she would be lost if she wandered around the house, she used to live in. Or perhaps he was just worried that something might happen to her. While she could understand him, she was no longer the same person she used to be. If someone were to bother her, she wouldn’t hesitate to defend herself and fight
back.
