“MISS PRISCILLA, I hope you will accept this small gesture of my appreciation for your help the other day at the academy?” The son of a beta from a neighboring pack presented her with a bouquet of roses
roses in the same shade of pink as her dress.
Her eyes landed on him, and she immediately recognized him; he was the boy who often got picked on by the Alpha’s sons at their school.
“You don’t have to, but I really appreciate it. The flowers are absolutely stunning,” she replied with gratitude, flashing a smile at Axel that made his grin widen.
Priscilla was just leisurely wandering around after a hectic day yesterday, and she was pleasantly surprised to receive such lovely flowers on her way home.
“I–I picked them myself,” He scratched his cheeks shyly and looked at her, “Uhm do you mind if I ask you to-”
“Sorry, our princess here is busy.” Beta Jarren chimed in, wrapping his arms around Priscilla’s shoulder. Her heart skipped a beat, but she was also irritated by his rude behavior.
Despite her feelings for him, she didn’t want to put up with him making decisions for her. She knew he was just trying to be protective, but she resented the fact that he was doing it because he saw her as nothing more than a little sister and not a grown woman.
“No, I’m not busy. My brother is returning today, so I have plenty of free time. Please continue with what you were saying earlier,” Priscilla flashed a smile at Axel as she removed Beta Jarren’s arm from her shoulder, causing him to give her a puzzled look.
He couldn’t help but wonder if he had angered her in some way and why it bothered him so much that she treated Alex with such tenderness. It was unusual for her to show such friendliness towards any unmated male wolves other than him.
“Ah, my father’s cafe is reopening tomorrow, and I was wondering if you would like to come by and join me for a cup of
treat.” coffee or tea. It would be my
Alex nervously played with his fingers, hesitant to ask Priscilla out for coffee since they hardly knew each other. He had secretly admired her for being a strong and confident woman, and her beauty never failed to catch his attention whenever she walked around the academy. He was aware that she was out of his league, but he still wanted to be close to her, nonetheless.
“Sure, I’d love that.” She happily agreed, causing him to let out a sigh of relief, while Beta Jarren couldn’t help but frown in response. When Axel noticed his displeasure, he quickly excused herself, promising to pick up Priscilla the next day before leaving them in a hurry.
“Why did you agree? Have you given up on waiting for your fated mate to show up?” Beta Jarren asked as Priscilla continued walking while smelling the flowers in her hand.
“I’ll graduate college in a few months, and my brother’s getting married. I need to find the right person to marry, too so he won’t get worried about me,” she replied, not giving him a single glance until he blocked her path.
“Are you considering getting married already? You’re too young for that, you’re only 22 years-”
“I’ll be 23 this year, what do you mean young? Stop treating me like a kid, I’m a gown woman now.” Her face twisted into a scowl as she took a step forward, trying to push past him. But he blocked her path with his arm, preventing her from moving any further.
“Seriously, why are you acting like this all of a sudden?” Beta Jarren furrowed his brow, unsure why she suddenly seemed so eager to enter a romantic relationship when she had never expressed interest in one before.

“Yes. It’s quite obvious to us, but I don’t think Jarren has realized until Priscilla confessed.” Alpha Perez replied with a knowing smirk.
“You’re fine with it? I mean, your beta and sister dating?” Serena couldn’t help but wonder. Brothers are known to be fiercely protective of their sisters, often making it difficult for them to pursue relationships, especially with one of their friends.
But as she observed Alpha Perez, she noticed a lack of objection or hesitation. In fact, it seemed like he wholeheartedly supported them.
“Yeah, I know Jarren feels the same way as my sister anyway. Besides, they were good for each other…”
“But what if they find their fated mates and it ruins their relationship?” Serena couldn’t help but ask as they began walking upstairs, concerned about the potential outcomes.
She always found it unsettling when werewolves, like themselves, deliberately chose a mate instead of letting fate take its course. She understood that there was no point in dwelling on it, but she couldn’t help herself. Fate was a formidable opponent; when something was meant to happen, it inevitably did, regardless of any efforts to prevent it.
“Well, that was one of my worries, but they were old enough to handle it. At Jarren’s age, he probably had already given up on finding his mate. The same could be said for Priscilla; it’s a natural feeling for those who haven’t found their mates yet.”
“Plus, they can’t keep waiting for it; once you’ve fallen for someone, it’s nearly impossible to control those feelings.”
“Right,” Serena nodded, hoping things would work out well between the two.
Once they arrived at her room, Alpha Perez went inside to drop off her suitcase. Just as he was about to leave, she impulsively grabbed onto his shirt, causing him to stop abruptly. He then turned towards her, looking puzzled and unsure.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice was kind and soft. Serena took a moment to ponder. She pressed her lips together in thought, debating whether or not to confide in him with her worries.
“Uhm, are your schedules full for the following days?”
“A little, but I’ll always make time for you,” His response filled her with warmth, causing her to smile warmly at him in return. “Why? Is there something you want to do?”
“Well, if it isn’t a brother, is it possible for you to teach me how to awaken my wolf?”

Priscilla’s eyes blazed with anger as she glared at him, her bottled feelings finally reaching their breaking point. His stubbornness only fueled her impatience and frustration, causing her to take a deep breath in an attempt to calm down. But even as she looked straight into his unwavering gaze, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion coursing through her veins. Her heart raced and her palms grew clammy as she held back the urge to lash out.
“I just feel like I have to, okay? It’s not that I’m giving up on waiting for my fated mate, I’m surrendering my emotions towards you. I want to develop feelings for someone else because I know that you’re not going to reciprocate my feelings.”
She couldn’t hold back the words any longer and they spilled out of her mouth, causing Beta Jarren’s eyes to widen in shock. Priscilla had been expecting this reaction, so she smiled and gently pushed his arm down as it was blocking her path.
“Now you know the reason, stop getting in my way.” A bitter smile spread across her face, and Beta Jarren was at a loss for words. Priscilla clenched her jaw and walked away, hoping he would follow after her to continue their conversation. But as she continued to move further away, he simply remained where he was, watching her figure become lost in the midst of the bustling street.
“UHM, DID SOMETHING HAPPEN?” Serena asked as she watched the atmosphere between Priscilla and Beta Jarren change as they greeted them upon arriving at the packhouse.
“What’s wrong?” Alpha Perez’s eyebrows furrowed in concern as he sensed tension between the two before him, but the air just grew thick with a heavy silence. He then turned to Gamma Taylor, his third–in–command, and locked eyes with him, silently urging for an explanation.
“I don’t know what happened either. When they got home, the air around them was already like that.” He shrugged, scratching the back of his neck.
Beta Jarred, on the other hand, made a fist behind his back, trying to calm himself down. Despite wanting to avoid confrontation, he found that his patience was running thin, and he couldn’t ignore the situation any longer. He decided to face it head–on instead of pretending like it didn’t bother him.
“Sorry, Perez, I’m speaking to you as a friend rather than a superior. I’d like to have a conversation with your sister about our relationship, so please excuse us.”
Priscilla’s jaw dropped open, her lips parting in shock. But before she could even utter a word, Beta Jarren grabbed her hand and gently pulled her away from them. The suddenness of his touch sent a rush of heat through her body, igniting a mix of emotions. She stumbled slightly as they moved away, her heart racing with curiosity as she stared at his back and their hands holding each other.
Serena brought her hand up to cover her mouth, her heart fluttering at the scene she had just witnessed. She then quickly glanced over at Alpha Perez, who had a smirk painted on his face.
“I guessed she had confessed her feelings for him already,” He made a remark and Gamma Taylor nodded, thoughtfully resting his chin in between his thumb and index finger.
“That was the only possible reason for their behavior.” The gamma agreed.
“Huh, wait… Does Priscilla have feelings for Beta Jarren?” Serena couldn’t help the surprise and excitement that crept into her voice as she asked the question. It reminded her of the exhilaration she used to feel when reading a romance novel, and she struggled to contain her emotions.
“You sure looked excited.” Alpha Perez let out a chuckle, impressed by the new side of her that she was showing.
“But yeah, my sister was in love with my beta. Though she doesn’t confide that with anyone. Taylor and I just caught on except för Jarren.”
So, you’re saying that Priscilla has been hiding her feelings for Beta Jarren this whole time?” Serena asked, her mind reeling with the new information. She couldn’t believe that her tough and independent friend was secretly in love with someone. She never really noticed it before, so it surprised her
