THE SOUND OF WATER flowing down the drain filled Serena sears
as she rested her weight against the edge of the bathtub. The banquet had been so eventful that it left her feeling physically. and mentally drained.
After she had a dance with Alpha Perez, they were suddenly swarmed by the guests who were curious about their relationship. At first, it was uncomfortable for Serena, as she hadn’t been in many social situations lately. However, she was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the conversation flowed between them all.
Over the past few years, she had honed her socialization skills, but the previous year had limited her opportunities to use them. The last time she engaged in pleasant conversation at a gathering was on her wedding anniversary with Calix.
She had believed that those types of events would no longer bring her joy, but as she got swept up in the festive atmosphere earlier, she found herself surprisingly relaxed–It was quite different from what she had anticipated for the evening.
“I’m glad though” She whispered to herself before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, immersing herself in the warm water that soothed her tense muscles.
However, her relaxation was interrupted when she heard the doorbell of her hotel room ring. Quickly, she opened her eyes. and stood up, reaching for the robe hanging on the rack by the wall After slipping it on, she left the bathroom and cautiously looked through the peephole to see Alpha Perez standing outside.
She nervously bit her lip, recalling his words about persisting in pursuing her even if she rejected him. She hadn’t been able to respond at that moment because they had finished dancing and were immediately surrounded by guests.
She let out a deep breath and turned the handle of the door. He was no longer dressed in his fancy attire, but he still looked charming, especially with his hair down. She wasn’t sure if it was just her, but he looked gentler than when his longer hair was tied.
“Oh sorry, were you in the middle of a bath?” he asked, taken aback to see her wearing a bathrobe with water droplets still falling from her hair, creating a mesmerizing pattern on her skin. Her cleavage was on display, adding to her alluring and otherworldly appearance, causing him to suppress the lump that formed in his throat.
“Ah no, I was just about to get out of the bathtub. Is there something you need?”
“Are you ready for bed already? I saw a cocktail lounge just across the lobby and thought maybe you would like to have a few drinks there,” he replied, and Serena quickly nodded in agreement. After all, she hadn’t had much to drink at the banquet, despite his desire for alcohol after meeting her family. Even though she was tired now, the thought of consuming alcohol still tempted her.
“I’ll just get ready; could you wait for me?”

“Don’t you want to come inside? I still need to dry my hair, so it might take some time.” Serena offered, water trickling down her cleavage, causing Alpha Perez to shake his head. He was afraid he might lose control and do something he would later regret. And that was the last thing he wanted.
“It’s okay, I have to change my clothes as well so, I’ll just go back to my room, it’s not far from here anyway,” he smiled, pointing his thumb behind him. Serena chuckled and nodded in understanding, both heading to their respective rooms to get ready, ending the conversation there.
“WOW, it looked cozy here.” Her eyes scanned the lounge, taking in all the various decorations that adorned the space. atmosphere was soothing and cozy, filling her with excitement until she noticed Calix and his brother drinking on the counter. Suddenly, her good mood vanished.

Their conversation then flowed effortlessly, filled with stories about the blood moon pack. And as the evening wore on, they delved deeper into one another’s lives, sharing intimate details like hobbies, age, and favorite foods. But amidst their chatter, neither of them noticed Calix’s piercing gaze following their every move, his eyes taking in every detail of their
interaction.

Calix couldn’t believe that his fated mate would move on so quickly, and even get married too soon. As a result, he thought of the possibility that Alpha Perez and Serena might be fake.
However, Cesare informed his brother that Alpha Perez had taken Serena under his wing during the war when she was originally under Cesare’s command. He also mentioned that Alpha Perez had shown a keen interest in her from the very beginning.
