THE BANQUET HALL was grand and filled with people from all over the country. The walls were adorned with stunning tapestries, and large chandeliers illuminated the room with a soil, golden light.
Despite the grandeur of it all, Serena couldn’t help but focus her attention on Alpha Perez, who appeared to be caught off guard by something
“What’s wrong?” she asked, wondering why he looked anxious and surprised as soon as they stepped foot inside the banquet where the Alpha King’s beta was already calling out the warrior same.
“It’s nothing.” He shook his head and attempted a smile, but Serena could sense that something was troubling him. She wanted to ask further, but the sound of her name being called interrupted her thoughts.
“Go, before your sister manages to get in there first,” Alpha Perez placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and guided her through the crowd, urging her to keep moving. She turned to look at him and was met with a calm smile, a stark difference from his earlier expression.
Serana returned the smile and nodded in appreciation before taking a deep breath and striding confidently towards the Alpha King at the stairs.
As soon as she left, Alpha Perez clenched his jaw, still feeling the adrenaline coursing through his veins. He was glad that he had managed to mask his scent just in time, knowing that his fated rate was nearby. Instead of scanning the crowd for a she–wolf who desperately searched for her other half, he kept his eyes locked on Serena, standing confidently before the King
It didn’t matter to him if his fated mate was in the same location as him; all he cared about was Serena and her alone
With that, he made sure that his eyes wouldn’t leave her, and he was pleasantly surprised by how well she seemed to be doing. Despite being in the presence of the Alpha King and her family watching her, she seemed to radiate a sense of peace and control.
Thank you for fighting bravely,” The Alpha King handed Serena the badge with a smile on his face. As a gesture of respect, he allowed her to pin it onto her dress near her chest which she proudly did.
“Thank you. My King.” Serena reached out and shook his hand, but the smile on his face gradually disappeared when he noticed the ring sparkling on her index finger. In that moment, she knew he had recognized her as the one who was about to marry Alpha Perez.
Serena felt a lump form in her throat as she watched his expression change. Despite being in his middle age, he still had an intimidating presence that made her nervous. But when he flashed a smile again and released her hand, she let out a mental sigh of relief and moved forward because the next warrior was already being called up.
As she slowly turned around, her gaze landed on Calix, and he couldn’t help but flinch. The sight of her, standing there looking radiant and whole after their divorce had been finalized, was a painful reminder of what he had lost.
A twinge of regret tugged at his heart as he took in the way her once warm and loving eyes now held only cold indifference. He realized at that moment that he had truly lost her.
Serena averted her gaze, unable to contain the smirk that tugged at the corners of her lips. She couldn’t help but revel in the sight of her ex–husband’s look of regret. Aside from that, it was fun seeing Marga still trembling with humiliation. It was just a shame that Serena wasn’t able to witness her sister’s expressions when she turned and walked away from the red carpet.
The thought of it must have been a spectacular sight, and the mere image brought a smile to her lips. But when she caught sight of her parents, her smile quickly faded. She then gave them a cold stare before striding towards Alpha Perez and their fellow warrior.
“I have a feeling that the King has already figured out our plan to get married,” she informed him as soon as she reached
him.

“His expression says it all. But don’t worry.” He smiled and patted her head affectionately, impressed by how she maintained her composure in front of the King and her family, who were now all looking at them with shock.
Not only did they witness it, but so did the other guest and King who was surprised to see Alpha Perez displaying affection
towards a woman
“I’m sure he would call for us later,” He added, feeling the king’s intense gaze on them. As a result, he put his arm around Serena’s waist and pulled her closer to him, signaling for their plan to begin.
Serena recognized the cue and smiled shyly, her cheeks flushed with a light blush. But her expression quickly turned into a mocking smirk when she noticed Calix’s wide–eyed stare. He must have realized that the man Serena had been with on Marga’s birthday was actually the Alpha of Alphas from the Northern Region.
Watching them show affection made Calix’s jaw tense up, his inner wolf blaming him for losing Serena.
“Who is that? Was Serena already in a relationship? Or perhaps she was having an affair too, and just hadn’t caught.” Marga asked, insinuating that Serena might have been cheating before she got divorced. But deep down, she was more bothered by how content her sister appeared when she should have been miserable.
And to make matters worse, the man who had just wrapped his arm around her waist was incredibly attractive and even taller than Calix.
“That’s Alpha Perez, the person I wanted to do business with. He was invited to your birthday, but he never showed up.” Alpha Robert’s response caused Calix’s fist to clench, solidifying his suspicion that Perez was the one who had mated with Serena,
Meanwhile, Marga let out a shocked gasp and covered her mouth with her hand, unable to believe that Serena had any connection to someone like him.
During her birthday, she kept hearing people talk about him and his impressive accomplishments, becoming an Alpha at a young age. She also recalled her father boasting about their influential pack which is why he wanted to do business with him.
“Have they known each other before?” Marga asked, watching Alpha Perez as he made his way to the front to collect his badge.
“No, it seemed they became acquainted during the war.” Her father responded, observing Serena as she chatted happily with person he desperately other members warriors of Alpha Perez. He couldn’t believe that his daughter was getting close to the wanted to strike a deal with.
Looking back at their interaction earlier, it seemed their relationship was more than just friendly, and his suspicions were confirmed when he caught a glimpse of the ring on Serena’s finger as she took a sip of her wine.
“Huh?” His words came out in a sudden burst, surprise evident in his tone and expression. Luna Emilia and Marga turned to him, and Calix quickly followed suit upon hearing his father–in–law’s next statement. “Serena’s wearing the blood moon’s pack heirloom.”
“What?” Luna Emilia and Calix mirrored Alpha Robert’s expression and shifted their focus to Serena, who was now in conversation with Alpha Perez. Their eyes widened as they realized that what Alpha Robert had said was indeed true.
“W–what’s going on? Why are you all surprised?” Marga couldn’t understand what was going on, and her frown reflected her
confusion.

Not only were her parents taken aback, but the other guests as well. They were whispering and glancing at Serena who was talking to Alpha Perez as they talked to each other. They weren’t even doing anything more than talking so, understand why they were all so surprised.
It made her feel completely clueless, and she despised that feeling. She bit her lip and shifted her attention to Calix before tugging at his arm so that he would look at her instead of her sister.

“Tell me, what’s the significance of the blood moon’s heirloom and why are you all behaving so strangely?” she demanded causing him to blink twice. “What? Tell me!”
“T–the ring on Serena’s finger,” Calix stuttered, his heart pounding in his chest as he tried to make sense of everything happening “That’s the ring that only the Blood Moon’s pack luri could wear.”
