SERENA’S was thumping as she made her way towards Alpha’s live. As soon as she heard the information about her parents‘ plan to have Marga attend the banquet on her behalf, de quickly stood up and esined herself in Priscilla, who was left confused on the bench
“You didn’t have to run like that,” Perez said when Serena arrived panting He dood up from his desk, prored her water, and handed it to her as she sat on the sofa, trying to catch her breath
“Sorry, but I heard something abound so I need to confirm whether or not what I heard is true.” She took a deep breath and drank the water while watching the Alpha sit arrows from her. Once the finished the glass and placed it on his small mahogany coffee table, she composed herself
“What you heard is true. The information came from the Alpha King’s beta.” he responded after noticing that the was waiting for hum to confirm his earlier words. “Since you were part of my troop during the war, I used it as a reason to ask about you, and that was how I received the info…
“Marga will go to the celebratory banquet in your stead.” Serena’s fist tightened slightly as she listened to him. She couldn’t help but think how shameless that wench was, not only her but also her parents. They sent her to war instead of Margs, and now they wanted Marga to attend the banquet.
Regardless of what happened to the packhouse and her relationship with them, Marga didn’t have the right to attend such an important event like that. Especially when she didn’t even fight alongside the other warriors, it was disrespectful to those who fought hard to defend against the enemy and to those who sacrificed their lives.
“No, I can’t let her take credit for my accomplishments. She can’t continue taking everything I work so hard to earn.” Serena’s voice trembled with emotion that threatened to spill over. Something deep inside her soul started clawing its way up from the depths as anger consumed her.
It was a weird feeling, sure she was angry, but it felt like there was another emotion trying to take control of her body. A foreign heat spread across her chest causing her to feel hot and bothered from head to toe. Before she realized it, she found herself being touched by her alpha as he rubbed her shoulder soothingly.
She blinked in surprise as she didn’t feel him approaching. Since when was he sitting by her side? It was as if he had just teleported there without any warning, or perhaps she was too log in her thoughts to notice hum until she felt his hand on her shoulder.
“What’s wrong? You were sweating bullets,” he asked, concern etched on his face as he pulled a handkerchief to gently dab at her forehead
“1–it must be from running earlier,” Her words stumbled out of her mouth, but she knew that it wasn’t just from running There was something off about the strange feeling she had experienced earlier, and it seemed to be affecting her physically too. “Or maybe because I was too angry?”
“Is that so? Don’t worry, a shameless person like her isn’t going to get what she wants. We’re going to the party, too. I already informed the Alpha King’s beta about it,” Perez reassured her in a calm voice. “Since the King owes me for helping in the war, I asked them to keep your attendance at the party a secret from your family. This way, we could have more opportunities to publicly humiliate your sister.”
“B–but what if the rumors about me trying to harm her have already spread throughout the capital? As you said before. Alpha Robert told the beta why I won’t be able to come.” Serena stuttered.
Even though she appreciated Alpha Perez’s efforts to stop Margis schemes to steal credit for her hard work, she couldn’t shake the unease that crept over her at the thought of the inevitable consequences once news of the attempted murder spread. It would not only thrust her into the spotlight but also potentially tarnish Perez’s reputation for taking in someone who had tried to end her own sister’s life.
“Then just spread another piere of information that would make the tables turn.” Alpha Perez shrugged, his fingers tracing the veins in Serena’s wrist as he looked into her eyes.

“Without solid evidence, no pne would believe your claim that Marga set you up. It might seem unjust, but you just have to convince everyone that any actions that day were out of anger in the heat of the moment. After all, she was carrying year ex husband’s child, who was also your fated mate?
“The news about their affair could change people’s perception of the situation. They would understand your actions more, even though you never actually tried to harm that scheming weth” he continued explaining, but Serena found herself becoming more focused on the way he gazed intently at her while tracing circles on her palm. “You know, nothing was more shameful than what your sister did‘
He concluded, even though he was aware that his father would be foolish enough to reveal their family’s disgraceful secret. Alpha Robert would undoubtedly do everything in his power to keep the truth hidden, as it could lead to more questions and potential consequences. But he couldn’t bring himself to deceive the Alpha King, so he divulged the
information
“That’s right,” she nodded before taking a deep sigh. “Haah! 1 let the anger consume me, and I wasn’t able to think straight. I can’t be this stupid during these situations.”
“I understand how you feel, I would have the same reaction if someone who had wronged me tried to receive an award for my accomplishments when I was not even dead and without my consent.” Alpha Perez attempted to console her. After all, he, too, could feel the anger bubbling up as he spoke to the Alpha King’s beta over the phone earlier.
The nerve of Serena’s family to try and claim the recognition that rightfully belonged to her was enraging. How could they even consider such a thing?
If only he could make a move himself to make them suffer already, he would have done it the moment he saw the bruise and cut on Serena’s face. However, he didn’t want to deprive her of the opportunity to seek revenge herself, so he was trying has best to hold back. All he could do now was offer support.
“Since you’ve calmed down, get ready. We’re heading out to buy the outfits we’ll be wearing. We need to be prepared because we’ll show them how good you’ve been doing despite leaving your pack.” Serena blinked after hearing his words. “The families of the warriors will also be in attendance at the party, which means your trashy mate and parents may also be there. Wouldn’t it be fun to give them more surprises?”
-You, attending the party would already shock them, but you, being a new member of my pack would add another level of confusion to their already bewildered minds,” he said, making sure his eyes remained glued to Serena’s
It was clear that he was more thrilled than she was, causing her to break into a smile. The thought of the shock and disbebef on their faces, when they saw her with Alpha Perez, brought a grin to her lips. Honestly, she didn’t expect to cross paths with them again so soon. She thought it would at least take months, but to think they would meet again two weeks after she left the packhouse was almost unbelievable.
“All right, but before that, won’t the Alpha King and my former pack members question how I ended up joining your pack? Are you going to tell them about our relationship, or are we just using the reason of being a fellow warrior who served in the
same unit?”
Curiosity got the best of Serena as she couldn’t resist asking. Even though they were simply attending a party, she believed there was a more prepared way for them to handle the inevitable questions and curious minds that would come with their presence at such a large event.
“We won’t just be going there as comrades, but as something more. I will show everyone how smitten I am with you,” he answered with a sly smile on his face. “We’re going to kill two birds with one stone; show your ex and family what a huge mistake they made and prove to the Alpha King that he doesn’t need to send unmated female wolves to my pack anymore.”
