Despite Melody’s drama, the party was a success, it was a great push to my business endeavors.
Bright’s return turned out to be the strong support I needed through turbulent water. But now, the sea was at peace, and my business ship could sail without any hitch.
As my work life was all set, my fate decided to introduce me to new difficulties in my personal life, unlocking a new chapter: Leo’s growing interest in me.
However, Leo’s reaction was beyond my wildest nightmares!
Instead of feeling threatened, he set on a mission to pursue me openly, not paying any heed to the public. His no–hesitation mode fairly threatened me, disrupting my peace. It seemed like he was determined to win my heart.
Leo could be a persuasive lover boy, but I wasn’t obliged to comply with his intentions. He was just a part of my dark past, and I was desperate to see him on his knees after losing everything dear to him.
His attempts weren’t extraordinary in the beginning, he would simply send flowers with cards to my office. However, my no–response mode raised his hopes higher, he became more daring as I received a call from my security staff.
“Mr. Leo is here to see you, Miss Becker.”
Leo was at my Villa?
I glanced at the clock and mumbled under my breath.
“It’s 02:00 pm. Why did he come to see me?
And why at my Villa?”
As we were the only business partners, I didn’t allow him to invade my personal space with his unannounced visits. So, I ordered my guards..
“Please inform Mr. Leo that I am busy in a meeting. He can meet me tomorrow at my office.”

Although it was Sunday, I was working because of ice hockey season. Bright’s association with my company had doubled my work. Now, in addition to Leo’s sponsors, I had to manage Bright’s schedule as well. This double trouble had occupied my weekends as well.
Honestly speaking, I thoroughly enjoyed my tough routine as my work kept my mind busy, saving me from the worries of the future. I could easily focus more on my revenge plan by relying on my success.
Leo had rejected me because of my physical appearance to match the standards of this shallow society. But now, I was the new face of the business circle in Lakon City, redefining the term success and power. He would surely love it when his true face would be revealed in front of the whole world.
My last meeting of the day was with Bright, he had invited his business partners from abroad for investment opportunities in our city. The discussion went on great, and investors showed keen interest in the sports market. Bright whispered in my ear.
“I only suggested that they meet you once. But you are a fine businesswoman, Laura.
You have compelled them
to sign deals with
you.
Smiling at Bright’s compliment, I notified my other branches for smooth negotiations about projects and ended my day. It was 07:00 pm when I walked out of my office building. Checking my cell phone, it occurred to me,

I was late again!
Three miscalls and one text full of anger from Jane alarmed me, I had missed our ice cream date in the evening.
“Sorry, my girl. I was busy!” I paused for a moment to send this text message, but a black Limo stopped before me all of a sudden, demanding my attention. The driver stepped out of the car and opened the door, Bright’s tall figure appeared before my sight as he invited me.
“Care for a ride, Laura?”
That gentleman came out and held the open door for me, surprising me with his sweet gestures. I chuckled at his generous offer.

“Don’t you have a work dinner with your business partner tonight, Bright?”
My sharp memory gave him a chance to praise me once more, Bright placed his hand on
his chest.
“I am glad that you have listened to me so carefully, Laura. It’s an honor.”
During our small talk, I looked around for my driver who was nowhere to be found, he was late because of some unknown reason. I sighed and shook my head.
“You are really a persuasive speaker, Bright.”
He bragged about his negotiation skills as I went to my Villa in his Limo. His updates on today’s meeting didn’t let me regret my choice. Even I asked him.
“Will you mind staying for coffee, Bright? The weather is very nice today.”
The clouds had covered the sky and abruptly turned the sunny day into a romantic scene. The weather forecast announced the season change in the afternoon with rain.
Bright also agreed with me in this topic of pleasant weather and said,
“I would love to spend more time with you, Laura. You, coffee, and the cold weather while enjoying the serenity of night, sounds like a good plan.”
The Limo came to a grating stop before my Villa, and I looked at Bright’s gentle expressions, adding to his statement.
“And a lot of business work. This is the best combination.”
The guards opened the door for me as I walked towards the main door of my Villa, a hurried voice called me from behind.
“Miss Laura!”
The richness of that baritone resounded in my ears as I spun on my heels, momentarily shocked.
“Mr. Leo?”

Surrounded by my armed guards, Leo was standing with a bag, he spoke.
“I have brought this food for you!
He showed me a piece of Tupperware in his bag, explaining the reason for his arrival.
“I called you in the afternoon, but you didn’t attend my call, Miss Laura. So, I waited for you. here.”
What?
Had he gone nuts?
After my security staff’s call, Leo also called me, but I ignored it, taking it as his attempt to rant about my guard’s rudeness. I thought he would go back and move on in his routine, but that stubborn hockey star stayed outside my Villa.
